The Economy taking a downturn is the one thing

that might put a dent in Trump's poll numbers.

It is obvious that the the 40% don't care about any criminal, treasonous, disgusting, incompetent or fascist behavior by the POtuS.

But the economy taking a nose dive might, and I emphasize might, turn away some of these deluded souls.

Hilary won by 3,000,000 votes. We need a 5,000,000 to 10,000,000 lead to ensure a victory.

However, we are dealing with fealty here for a good part of that percentage and that's even more severe and intractable than loyalty.

I would estimate that 20-30% of his followers, (I love the use of that term for a President, how novel and appropriate) are lost in a maze of conspiracy theories, (no, really, check into that) which serve to cut them off from the consensus reality and use a form of "logic" that either allow them to ignore facts or ascribe them to convenient conspiracies. It is like a group confirmation bias machine and it works well on that old premise, if I can get you to believe one, really absurd thing, then it's easy to convince you of more.

That's what we are dealing with in that case. It is bubbling up into the mainstream, but I wonder how many people here have ever ventured into those realms to see this propaganda machine in action. It is a very dark, deep rabbit hole and the population is increasing. When beliefs, (because somebody said so and it "sounds right to me&quot hold sway, it would take some high-level skills to even make a dent in that as far as cutting through the cocoon of willful and induced ignorance that is being used to form an increasingly cohesive movement. In fact, arguing with deep-set beliefs can be counter-productive, because confirmation bias allows for turning your argument into another reason to believe--they dig in deeper.

Among the many, absurd beliefs that are now becoming more dangerous is their expectation of "The Storm". That's just one of many, many furnishings of a easily manipulated segment of our population in what would appear to be a madhouse of absurdity and a breeding ground for mayhem. It's very concerning due to the numbers, otherwise, all cultures do have a fringe element.

That's what we are going for. Oh, for toast. I would be glad to supply the butter

I can also wonder what we will do with their meltdown when the fantasies begin to crumble in that case. That can be devastating for people and it will be quite a sociological phenomena with that many people in their wonderland.

they went from
Iraq War is Great, G W Bush best Pres ever to Iraq War horrible, G W Bush a disaster.

Russia is our Enemy, to Russia helps us and Putin great

and so on. They have no true convictions (except maybe racism and bigotry), so easily swayed.
