common sense will do a lot to support the survival of COVID-19. It apparently also helps to be younger than 70, which leaves me at risk, but I'll do my best. It's worked out well so far...

laid in an infinite supply of everything, probably not.

And if by happenstance they DID stockpile an effectively infinite supply of everything, we will thankfully never need to encounter them again (so a win-win, by some measures)

dominate the media, if a pandemic hits I'll just read and use the internet without any need to go shopping or look for necessities. Ebola, coronavirus, whatever the next media 'we're all gonna die' hysteria is going on, at least I don't have to fret about empty store shelves, or crime outbreaks, or having to go to a government shelter to avoid starvation or dehydration.

And I save a fortune on my food bills and household products by the way I prep.

Even the federal government is finally pushing 2 weeks preparation, not the silly 3 days.

But the interruption to the economy is going to be an issue for everyone.

Having a couple weeks worth of food and water in your basement or pantry is the bare minimum people should be doing. I also stocked up on cough syrup and cold medicine. Treating the symptoms until the body overcomes it is the way to survive this virus.

mock someone who can take care of themselves and their home like an adult.

Having run service calls on the S. California coast I think that many hipsters would be surprised at how common and routine it is there to be preppers, what they call themselves doesn't matter, but their sunny garages sure have a lot of food and water stored, it is the same in snow country and hurricane country and with millions who have some degree of self sufficiency in their make up.

I wouldn't be proud to be helpless and dependent and unable to help when problems arise, as they always do.

9. Stores don't have much food

I think when people walk into a grocery store they see such an abundance of food it's lost on them that people are purchasing that food 7 days a week and 24 hours a day, it's constantly being restocked several times a day. If everyone in the area decided that they needed food on 1 day a major grocery store could have its shelves emptied in a few hours.

If the shipping of food stops, and people get wind of it, you have but a couple hours to get to the store for yourself to buy some food. After that you're on your own.

learn just how the system works, there is barely anything in the back of the store and the trucks are having to arrive all day and the stockers filling the shelves just to handle that days shopping.

It may seem like an endless shelf of pork and beans and spam and toilet paper which can always be refilled from that giant warehouse in the back of the store, but if they walk back there they will see that there is very little there, and no giant warehouse at all.

Several times a year in different seasons, different states, different emergencies, people see this heads up, and some people don't absorb the message. It's nice to be outside of this worry and hysteria.

Your body is trying to bring that crud up for a reason and suppressing it just keeps you sicker for longer. Cough syrup is ineffective for a dry cough and counter-effective for a wet one.

You'd be better off just drinking hot water or tea with a teaspoon on honey in it if your throat is sore. At least it keeps you hydrated.

I watch various camping and bushcrafting videos and one of them turned out to be a prepper. I did not know that until the Corona thing. In her latest video, she went and spent a ton of money on more TP than I have ever seen in one place. She bought enough toilet paper to last half a year, from the looks of it. I couldn't believe it. She already had a ton of stuff. I had never seen that side of her before, just the camping/bushcrafting stuff. Preppers are a bit overboard sometimes. There is nothing wrong with having a few extra cans of good and some extra TP, but wow, that was a lot of spending and a lot of stuff hoarded up.

4 to 6 months (guessing), that same frugality is why I am ahead on so many products, food, booze, shampoo, I need and want to shave hundreds off my self maintenance bills.

Paper products don't go bad and are easy to store, I don't like shopping and prefer to minimize doing it, and I really don't want to have to monitor my TP and shop for it every month.

The woman is speculating. TP will be the gold standard in a SHFT situation. (Hey buddy, do you know where I can score a roll?)

I live in the Deep South, we have enough Spanish Moss and corn cobs to serve our needs forever.

Some prep for these situations; however a vast majority of them are prepping for the dawn of the Libertarian age where a siege of the government creates events that lead to a social/civil unrest.

They actively engage in; support and lend sympathies to organizations that do not support the Democratic Party platform and vehemently oppose societies that encourage Democratic ideals.

By giving the majority of them credit for being prepared for this allows them to shift their dialogue slightly and attempt to legitimize their ‘utopian society’ -similar time when the White Nationalists were able to rebrand themselves as the “Alt-Right.”

I refuse to give this demographic any acknowledgement that begins to allow them to become a part of the mainstream social dialogue.

Fuck them.

Ignore them.
