What if the buffoon is right?

I know, I know. Highly unlikely.

But what if he's right.

What if there isn't a large outbreak of COVID-19 in the US, and what if what we've seen so far is more or less it?

And what if whatever does happen in the near future tails off in April, when the scientist-in-chief said it will, because it will get warmer. (Whatever that means.)

He will be hailed by his followers as the second coming. The virus feared him because he is sent by god. Or both. And the stock market rebounds and exceeds where it was when the plummet began, thanks to the Democrats and the Media and Obama. See, he'll say, we didn't need that pandemic office. Because he is a stable genius.

In the reality-based universe, it just makes sense to be prepared. In his universe, that's just a waste of time and money that is better directed to his cronies and himself.

Just random thoughts as I read this morning's news.

1. Even a blind squirrel finds and acorn once in awhile. The usual flu or cold virus does slow down

once the warm weather comes. Fewer people cooped up indoors where virus spread more easily. I don't think they know if that could stop this one. I suppose it depends on how contagious it is. It could take right off again when it gets cold.

If it gets worse, then it's a deep state/media conspiracy against Trump.

Hi base will support him no matter what.

and how seriously Americans seem to take health and safety precautions, there is a vanishingly small chance that we will not see a very large number of cases here.

but letting the CDC run this code without Executive Branch interference would help. That's too much of a risk for them, however.

Trump is ONLY concerned with managing the messaging. That's it. Nothing beyond his re-election matters.

9. Nobody knows for sure how this will all play out (least of all Trump)

It's possible that we'll all get lucky and this whole thing will blow over without any serious consequences but I think that, whatever happens, Trump still shouldn't be left off the hook for decisions he made that left us woefully inadequate and unprepared for this- or another future situation, not to mention allowed there to be potential pandemic for decisions that exposed more of us to the possibility of catching the virus from the outset (i.e. evacuating the cruise ship passengers back to the US, possibly under less than safe and controlled conditions). If things work out for the best, it will be primarily because we got lucky, not that Trump was a brilliant President.

They can claim it didn’t happen. Just a bad flu season will be the excuse.
