I'll NEVER forgive Tweety for being behind Donahue's firing

fuck you Tweety

Oh yeah, also for publicly slobbering over Shrub Bush's "package" when he strutted across the USS Abraham Lincoln, which looked stuffed with something and completely ridiculous.

That said, the abrupt way in which he left is unnerving. I think the network should have let him finish the show.

because at times he could seem witty, charming, and incisive, and you'd remember how he landed in this job, and then WHAM! - he'd undo all that good will with some bizarre rant or petty comment. I remember his going after Al Gore with apparent glee, just like all the rest of them at the time, piling on about his personality and refusing to admit that Bush was a flyweight in a heavyweight fight.

Bush lover:

"We're proud of our president. Americans love having a guy as president, a guy who has a little swagger, who's physical, who's not a complicated guy like Clinton or even like Dukakis or Mondale, all those guys, McGovern. They want a guy who's president. Women like a guy who's president. Check it out. The women like this war. I think we like having a hero as our president. It's simple. We're not like the Brits."
(MSNBC's Chris Matthews, 5/1/03)

Good riddance.

Matthews had clearly been slowing down and showing physical and mental problems on air, for the last couple of years. I'm sure he's not even down to his last $20 million, and his books and speaker's fees and his high-powered exec wife's income will keep him from starving. I hope MSNBC gives his time slot to someone talented and worthy.

And for that I will always be grateful.
