What if Trump declared Pence the corona-guy because he WANTS him to fail?

1. Pence was forced onto Trump by Steve Bannon.

2. Pence is an evangelical fundamentalist and as such has nothing in common with Trump save for their desire to destroy democracy and replace it with dictatorship/theocracy.

I think, Trump is trying to get rid of Pence and to replace him with a sycophant, some slimy money-grubbing suit.

Trump made Pence responsible for tackling the coronavirus, so Pence will take the fall when things inevitably go bad.

Yep, I can see her as a tRump pick.

Am I mistaken, didn't she say something about not being interested?

If he does good then tRump made a good call. If not, he fires him and said he did a poor job and had to get rid of him. No blame on tRump if he fails, Credit to him if he succeeds..

He'll paint it as a win, but there's no reason for anyone else to do so.

But on the other hand, I'm sure Trump would love to ditch him and bring someone like Nikki Hailey on in November.

And you are right that Trump will absolutely lay all of the blame at Pence's feet when this thing goes really South.

Trump would love nothing more than to see a great deal of this country die. He NEEDS this pandemic, he needs an excuse to cancel the election. He needs an excuse to put his malitas and/or the NG on street corners and to close the borders in AND out. He needs it to make him feel like the dictator he wants to be.
He needs Pence to be the fall guy. Trump hasn't like him from day one, but couldn't fire him. That must eat him up. If Pence fails to deliver what Trump expects he WILL either chose another VP if he is forced into an election and if Pence does accomplish it Trump will declare himself king and serve alone.

If things go well, Trump will take credit for it and if things go disastrously, Trump will blame Pence. Win-win.

The decision could have been made in a moment when reality about the unstoppable mess his horrible decisions already enabled briefly broke through.

But, since you brought it up, Bannon MORE powerful than the religious right and anti-goverment plutocracy put together, choosing a VP very likely to succeed to the presidency instead of them? Pence represents a fusion between them, apparently seeing no conflict between serving both authorities.

Remembering also that Pence was the Koch alliance's guy, who were considering running him for president long before Trump happened.

Remembering that Bannon fell very early, while Trump's admin is absolutely packed with and largely controlled by agents of both RW megapower blocs, whose support Trump would be toast without.

Otoh, it's rumored Trump still listens to Bannon, and it's entirely believable that he could be involved somehow and trying to stir up his own choice of trouble.

He knows as well as we do that he doesn’t have a clue about anything. And the last thing he wants to do is have to actually expend some effort on something that requires thought and action other that shooting is stupid mouth off in front of a crowd of sycophantic morons.

He’s a lazy slob.
