His daughters school has been exposed and the whole family is in quarantine. His son is a leukemia survivor. This just got real.
ON EDIT: I misunderstood, their family is not in quarantine, but my friends' kids have been told to stay at home and the school is closed.

(16,903 posts)Oh, never mind. They don't give a damn.
I sure hope your friend is not infected, but if he/she is, I hope he/she recovers.. the recovery rate is high for younger people.. It's folks like me and my husband, 73 and 77, that need to be very cautious.

(2,074 posts)so he should be OK.
I decided last week to take my daughter out of school altogether - enrolled her in online school - since I've been ill and I have asthma - even though I'm just under 50, with my health issues and recent illness, I'm taking no chances that she might expose me to this thing. I'm teaching my classes online this week and will likely get permission to do so for the rest of the semester. Basically going into hiding.

(53,410 posts)The cases so far have all grown when one case is diagnosed. The person diagnosed feels OK at first, which enables the virus to infect others.
Ive heard that outdoors the virus dissipates more and chances of contagion are diminished. So if you can it might be a good idea to open windows and let fresh air circulate.
Good luck and take care.

(2,074 posts)I'm so angry at this administration's sheer incompetence. They should have had tests ready to go - aggressive testing and follow up is the way the Chinese contained the spread outside of Hubei. It CAN be done, but only if you have leadership, and this country has not had it for over 3 years. God, I miss Obama. And Hillary would never have let this happen.

(2,074 posts)Apparently the kid's older sister recently returned from Italy and got sick and against medical advice but before official results, the parents sent the younger sister to school - same school my friend's daughter goes to.

(713 posts)The Trump Regime is criminally incompetent. Trump himself is a sociopath, and only cares how Coronavirus will impact the economy and his chances for re-election. I hope Trump gets the Coronavirus.
