...the father and sister of the infected patient attended a school father-daughter dance Saturday night at the Ritz-Carlton in Clayton. They also apparently attended a pre-dance gathering at the house of a Villa student.
St. Louis County Executive Sam Page said Sunday that the patients family had been told on Thursday to self quarantine at their home in Ladue. Page said the patient's father had not followed health department instructions. Page spoke at a news conference Sunday evening.
County health officials told the man on Sunday, Page said, "that he must remain in his home or they will issue a formal quarantine that will require him and the rest of his family to stay in their home by the force of law."
The Villa Duchesne message advises students and parents, If you attended the dance, please be attentive to any symptoms you are experiencing.

On edit. If those SOBs got me or my family sick I would sue the shit out of them. Its one thing to spread it without knowing you have been exposed. Totally innocent. But breaking quarantine is wanton endangerment.

(4,613 posts)then the local or state health departments will need to get involved, ordering quarantines, slapping giant quarantine signs on their doors and putting an armed guard there, if necessary.

(39,171 posts)they will gut out their illness and not tell anyone, gambling that they will be ok. If you hide your illness then the local health department can't do much.

Racist as hell, anti-intellectual, many born on third and aren't even smart enough to know what a triple IS...
The problem is I have been to those events in the past...LOTS of glad handing, shaking of hands, patting on the back and the girls running around and hugging and jumping on each other. I also have had interactions with people from those social circles in just the last few weeks too, it is unavoidable in the St. Louis business community...
You literally could not paint a picture more likely to spread any virus on surface contact or human to human if you tried...
This whole thing has now reached within less than 10 miles from my door (from China to Missouri in under 4 months! - makes the plague look like a joke)...
I have gone from angry to terrified of what may be coming and I can't sleep or think rationally at the moment. I am going to have a really hard time tomorrow. This is out of control.

(10,667 posts)1. Yes, the father and sister certainly should have remained self-quarantined. This is a tremendous failure.
2. But also, the parents at the pre-dance gathering should never have had that gathering. What were they thinking?
3. And the father-daughter dance should have been cancelled.

My daughter made it to adulthood just fine without any of those weirdly creepy dances. Though they were popular here in the South when she was growing up.
Why any father thinks such weirdness is necessary is beyond me. And to break a quaranteen during a pandemic in order to expose your child to such weirdness is beyond rational.
