I have enough food and supplies on hand for my wife and I to subsist on for an extended period of isolation. To make things easier, I have a list of recipes in a binder from which I can make a variety of meals so we don't quickly fall into a rut of living off of rice and beans. The recipes help me keep stock of what i need in my inventory so I have the ingredients to make the meals.
Some of the meals below require ingredients that have a short shelf life so they would have to be made first.

They offer three recipes to try and hook you into buying the book. I tried their Sesame, Cashew oatmeal brittle. So delicious! Broke down and bought the book. You can find it on Amazon.

(46,736 posts)I don't have a double boiler, so I adjusted. This is what I recommend: Double the ground beef or ground turkey. I had to brown the turkey in a frying pan. And instead of two 30 ounce creamed corn, get three of the smaller cans. Also, add 1 or 2 minced garlic cloves to the ground beef.
That will be enough to spread over two 8x8 pans, so you can eat one that night and freeze the other. The temperatures and times recommended in the book are about right.

(102,292 posts)canned and packaged goods and any frozen foods. Timing is everything, isn't it? So, I've now had to go restock everything.
I don't cook that much and usually in bulk so I can freeze some for later. I tend to eat healthy, moderately low carb, but simple meals that I repeat frequently. By doing so, I keep the cravings for sugar, junk or processed food to a minimum. As long as I have access to milk to make my yogurt each week (which I can have delivered) I'm good.

(4,673 posts)beans! I packed up and hauled to the local food bank bags and cans of all sorts of beans just a month ago. In self quarantine those beans would be lookin just fine ....

(102,292 posts)So beans are manageable. I have five different varieties stocked up--both dry and canned. And even allow a very small portion of brown basmati rice. If all my other meals are relatively low net carbs, it works, since I eschew bread, pasta, and all the other "simple" carbs. I do eat plain (homemade) Greek yogurt so I get a good bit of my protein and some carbs there, but it keeps me satiated and I'm a big believer in the benefits of probiotics. Natural peanut butter is my goto anyway, so the shelves are well stocked.
I wish I had a bigger freezer, though.

(4,146 posts)the only thing I will need is some more cat food. I'm gonna pick up a couple of cases on my next run out, which I am trying to time during the least busy times of the day.
I wanna fill my lawn mower gas can, pick up some much and annuals so I will have something to keep me busy.
