Is there anything on earth that is uglier than WILLFUL ignorance?

Anti-vaxxers; climate change deniers; anyone who STILL believes Trump is a human being---these are just a few examples.

And, now, we can add those who say Covid 19 is "just like the flu---no big deal; a Democratic hoax". Bluntly, these people may kill a lot of us seniors.

I have a close friend in her 70s who has a lung condition that is essentially non-contagious TB. If she contracts this virus, she will die. I am horrified about the way these complete morons in The White House have mismanaged this crisis. And I am hoping that my friend stays safe.

She's gonna get us infected for sure.

Ultimately I might be killed indirectly by BINGO, and I want that in my obit!

I am keeping my sense of humor until I draw my last breath, then fuck it!

I would be surprised if BINGO isn't cancelled. My 69 YO husband usually plays cribbage on Tuesdays at the senior center. He didn't go this week - it's difficult to sanitize playing cards - and I'm pretty sure it will be cancelled too.

I have avoided the stocking up bug - but I think I'll head out this morning and get some Kleenex and Tylenol.

Stay well Brain!

And it ain't in Egypt!!

I went to the pharmacy and the grocery store and stocked up. Tylenol, Advil, Kleenex (a real luxury in my house!), Mucinex, and storable food. I'm in Southern Oregon and we have a few cases in nearby towns, but nothing local yet. There was no panic buying in the store that I saw today. I did not venture north to the Costco, though!

Stay well!

It gets spread to. Other than that the risk is low. I hope he gets and spreads it to his MAGATs.

This is no longer a laughing or infuriating situation. He is literally spreading this disease as we speak.

Virus don't care about its host's political affiliations. Any eukaryote will do. So, unless someone is wearing a "I"m an asshole for Trump" baseball cap, good possibility there can be contact.

MAGAt: Closing schools for what? Fear?

Me: To stop the spread of coronavirus. Have you not been paying attention?? It’s the best way to “flatten the curve” so we don’t end up rationing care like Italy. https://www.express.co.uk/.../Coronavirus-latest-news

MAGAt: first most kids aren’t getting it. Second who stays home with the kids? It’s giving into fear.

Me: Kids most certainly CAN be infected. They just don’t succumb to its effects. They can easily transfer it to someone who would succumb. As for childcare issues, this is where proper leadership in govt would provide a temporary social safety net to allow for that. Instead, we get offers of measly payroll tax cuts that actually hurt the funding of programs that need it now. Mandatory paid sick leave is demanded for those who are asked/required to stay home. Other western nations are doing it

MAGAt: ok Bernie

Me: oh good gawd. Stop with the dramatics. I’m being pragmatic and realistic. You wanna end up like Italy?

MAGAt: we won’t end up like Italy because we’ve closed the border to Europe and we have indoor plumbing. Our sanitation and personal hygiene are much better.

Me: Oh, to be so confident and restful in such willful ignorance.

one of the adult children was saying the swine flu in 2009 was way worse. Btw, this same family member got us all infected with that flu that was picked up in college. Anyway, I and Mrs Potato reminded this family member we are 10 friggen years older and this shit can kill us! You know, the children don’t ever think their parents age and they think of us as the same young age forever.

I haven't seen this woman in years, but her grown and only son has spent most of the last year in a jail in Washington state for robbery. His trial was supposed to be this week.

This woman is a wingnut. Her messages tend to be short, incomplete thoughts and so don't make a lot of sense. So last night she said that garlic and fulvic acid provide protection against coronavirus; also that the virus is BS. Another head scratcher was that Lyndon LaRouche had great ideas on education and the BRICS nations and in that vein.

I don't even know how to respond to this with anything other than

This woman is educated and has been a social worker. Her sister has told me that she's now doing home health care on her own. It's sad, really, but it's like she's some barely coherent cult member. But I'm damned if I can figure which one, other than the cult of drumpf.
