The permanent speedways are venues that rely on those events to cover their expenses for the year. .
Pretty much, anyway. While both Atlanta and Homestead host other events, the big crowds brought in by a Cup race weekend are tantamount to losing Black Friday and a week after that for a retailer.
Of course, St. Pete is a temporary course, but this is a massive blow to the organizers/promoters of that event as well.
