Help Guys.. what do you think?

Do you feel going to the movies could be unsafe because of the virus..
In our 60s...Man this whole thing really is sad and tragic..I thought I might take the wife tonight.. Both of us in extremely good health..

A friend just informed me that one should sip water every 15 minutes.. Water washes the virus into the stomach and is killed by stomach acids...

any other comments are welcome

Thanks Guys

Sit in the back so that you'll have 6-8 rows between you. Don't eat or drink or touch your face--however, you remember to do so. Disinfect your hands regularly and certainly after leaving.

Drink plenty of fluids at home but any drink you bring in or purchase has the opportunity to become contaminated and guess what--you've just exposed yourself.

Couple that with the airborne article from yesterday, and the fact it lives on surfaces for days.😳

response to COVID-19, as are grocery stores, Starbucks, etc. That said, I'd still disinfect around me, not, eat or drink and go, only if it is a trusted, out-of-the-way local theater that doesn't cater to big crowds and if I were in a smaller community.

Everything is a risk. Last weekend, I noted EVERYONE at the grocery store and Sam's were taking extensive precautions (hand wipes, or nitrile gloves, etc). Today, I've seen a lot less vigilance.

So, from my point-of-view, I'm venturing out as minimally as possible and interacting with others either outdoors in open venues, or only at work (I don't have the option of working at home in my profession). But, if I were determined to go see a movie, I'd do it as I described.

lodging in mucus membranes and cilia, if it's present in enough numbers. I wouldn't count on sipping water to keep safe. That said, if the theater isn't crowded, might be worth it if no one's hacking up a lung.

advice like this

You really should try to stay in, Ohio just put out a statement that they think there are at least 100,000 cases there, in one state.

FYI, I'm an RN. Have worked in Critical Care, ER, Heart/Lung ICU

COVID19 is known to be more serious when infecting the elderly with underlying health conditions such as those with comorbidities affecting the heart and lungs
* that would include Congestive Heart Failure

People with Congestive Heart Failure are often placed on fluid restrictions because their hearts cannot pump effectively, causing a build-up of fluid in the lungs, abdomen, and lower extremities.

Blithely telling someone to drink water every 15 minutes would be deadly to someone with a underlying condition that makes them prone to fluid overload. It's not just CHF, but that's the big one. Their pulmonary system is now even MORE compromised because of this bullshit, unattributed, non-tested bullshit junk science that you refuse to remove.

Hydration is important, but how much water? 1 cup? 1 tb? 1 gallon?Every 15 minutes for....ever? Every waking hour? In replacement of other fluids? Do you want water toxicity? because that's how you get water toxicity. Too much dilution (water) will cause a depletion of the body's essential electrolytes, specifically and most importantly, Sodium and Potassium. Again, these electrolytes are often always at risk of being out of whack in the elderly, infirm, and those with multiple comorbidities (heart dz, kidney dz, diabetes). Have you ever seen anyone with a sodium level of 110? I have. It's not pretty. It causes rapid deterioration and requires immediate hospitalization to reverse the (hopefully not permanent but often is) damage.

-----

There is not one single bit of peer-reviewed evidence that has been published regarding drinking water to cut down on risk of transmission or infection of COVID19. PLEASE delete that bullshit, nonsense, bunk science from your post. It's unproven and can and will lead to serious illness, injury, and possibly death to the people at most high risk for this virus.

There are too many fictions running around on how to prevent infection. The water thing is silly, IMHO. I certainly wouldn't go to the movies if crowded; you're just putting yourself and wife at risk. Plenty of movies streaming from the comfort of home. I know it's not the same--the big screen, vibrating surround sound and just getting out for a night. But I'm guessing our lives are about to take a turn into the inconvenient and aggravating.

That being said, everyone has to make their own risk assessments. I'd take plenty of hand sanitizer and not eat from the refreshment stand. No way of knowing if surfaces have been adequately cleaned/disinfected.

Good luck.

Personally, I wouldn't go to the movies.

Also, no matter what your friends tell you, standing on your head after having sex doesn't prevent pregnancy either.

Stay home because YOU may unknowingly have it and then unwittingly infect someone.

How about that?
