Pregnancies would be a fresh hell delayed. We adored our babies, but bless mother nature for at least making that ton of bricks impossible for old folk. Just the thought makes me feel like Biden may have when he decided he had to run.

WFH is an initialism because it isn't pronounced as a word.
RAM or SCOTUS are acronyms.

It also annoys me when people lecture online about unimportant crap like this, so I'll knock it off.

I'm confused.

From dictionary

acronym
—noun

1.a word formed from the initial letters or groups of letters of words in a set phrase or series of words and pronounced as a separate word, as Wac from Women's Army Corps, OPEC from Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries, or loran from long-range navigation.

2. a set of initials representing a name, organization, or the like, with each letter pronounced separately; an initialism.

3. an acrostic.

initialism
—noun

1. a set of initials representing a name, organization, or the like, with each letter pronounced separately, as FBI for Federal Bureau of Investigation.

2. a name or term formed from the initial letters of a group of words and pronounced as a separate word, as NATO for North Atlantic Treaty Organization; an acronym.

3. the practice of using initials or forming words from initials.

It appears that being an initialism does not exclude it from being an acronym. It just makes it a different type of acronym. Is that your take?

And don't feel bad for your pet peeves, Lucid Dreamer, I have quite a few of them myself. ❤

It's IKH = I know, huh?

But that may be a Hispanic thing. I think it's tied with "Ay, ni modo," "¡Orale!" and "¡Hijole!" as the expressions we use most often.

Not to be confused with insults, which I won't repeat here. For now.

We do our best under normal circumstances, but honestly we aren't trained or prepared for this, and i haven't seen any indication from my company that we will be. It's impossible to keep anything clean, much less germ free for more than a minute. Elevators, handrails and door handles alone would be a full time job.

No gatherings over a certain # will be allowed also but schools will remain open for now although universities here seem to be going online and some schools are shut down due to virus causes associated with the individual school Shut down for cleaning

I actually was doing exactly that when they held the news conference and am impressed they already had plans for this type of thing happening .
It’s late now I’m sleepy so I can’t remember the specifics but I think they did some trial scenario last year to plan a course of action if it occurred

Of course that was before the corona virus so it was based on a vague pandemic. This one really seems to suck but at least I feel I’m someplace it is being taken very seriously and the state has a basic outline of what needs to be done.

In Chicago and many suburbs we have excellent public transport but it is high density usage and if we can thin down riders by having many who are able to WFH do that along with college students study online it should help because there are plenty who do not have that type of work
Also less people gathering in big office complexes .
