I'm a substitute teacher and just found out that our school district is closing until April 6th

I live in San Francisco which already has a high cost of living. I had many jobs booked for the next two weeks. While I can ride it out I feel sorry for the hourly support staff who won’t be getting paychecks and the children who will be stuck at home. And the parents scrambling for childcare. I am so angry now that we have a President who thought this Coronavirus was a “ hoax”. Now millions of Americans are going to suffer.

As a side note, I am in Anaheim and was at Disneyland yesterday and today celebrating my husbands 60th birthday, we left early because it was raining and we were cold and miserable the rain has stopped and we might go back tonight. We got a call from my sister in-law telling us Disneyland is closing On Saturday. The last time we went years ago they gave people a raincheck but since we prepaid our tickets we are shit out of luck. We will go tomorrow but I am mad they will not refund us for today and tomorrow. It will be interesting to see if the crowds are large because Wednesday they were awful!. And from my observation no one seems worried.

1. I'm subbing in the desert and the district is talking about closing school beginning next week.

Nothing definite, but the rumor hotline is burning up, especially since a Marine from the local base tested positive.

Fortunately my wife and I have an emergency account saved up. I feel sorry for those who live paycheck-to-paycheck.
