Craziness at my local Aldi, this morning

I stopped at Kroger and it was just the usual activity. I needed a few things at Aldi and got there 5 minutes before their doors opened, only to find a LINE UP. They actually opened the doors 5 minutes early! They are limiting milk, bread, eggs and toilet paper to two, per shopper. And, unlike Kroger, they actually did have toilet paper. Admittedly, I got caught up in the excitement of actually seeing this display, and bought a 12 roll pack, despite being pretty well stocked up, at home.

And I also admit my only reason for stopping at Aldi was to stock up on potatoes and WINE. Much better price, per pound, on potatoes, than at Kroger and I really like Winking Owl Chardonnay. Especially at only $2.48 a bottle. Yes, there's a pandemic but I'm still looking for bargains.

When they open. I’m sure it is worse now, but we have one of the busiest in the metro area.

3. I've gotten there early and seen 3 or 4 people waiting in their cars, for the doors to open

The only time I've ever seen an actual line up was for the grand re-opening, after they remodeled.

There are about 4 Aldi in Genesee County. My nice shops at a different one and she met the same situation, yesterday.

2. Our Costco and Target

have been out of TP for more than a week. Costco was out of box wine too. I am 55 years old and have never seen anything like this in my lifetime.

4. I was surprised to see the TP at Aldi.

And, they were restocking totally empty wine shelves so I arrived, just in time.

One thing I notice about Aldi is, even in stressful times, like this, the regular customers all seem to have a real Zen mode, as they shop. It's very much like shopping at Trader Joe's. There just seems to be a familiar attitude shared by so many of the regular shoppers. That's been my experience, anyway, and I shop there 2 or 3 times a week.

5. You got Kroger?

I woulda figured you were in solid Giant Eagle territory. Didn't realize Kroger had stores where you are.

6. Kroger, Meijer, Walmart, Sams and Aldi and a couple of Sav-A-Lots in the Flint, MI area

Our local Target isn't a 'super' store, unfortunately.

There are a few really nice smaller, locally owned markets. I wish they were closer.

who lives in NE Ohio, where I wouldn't expect to hear about a Kroger store.

7. Once every two years I order a huge case

of TP and it last me for those two years. Still have a half case of about 40 rolls, so I'm good. Single ply Scotts.

I've always been one of those people who keeps an extra package of TP in the hall closet, along side the extra boxes of tissue.

If I'm going to spend extra $$ stocking up any anything, it's going to be non-perishable/dry goods foods.

13. I think a lot of stores are starting to limit people on a LOT of items and especially TP

No doubt it will start reappearing at a store, near you, soon!

They have their ducks lined up cleanliness wise and generally less shoppers.

I'll cry about the extra $5 I spend later.

15. I've decided that any future grocery shopping will be done very early in the morning

Fewer people, and hopefully better stocked shelves.

Why not lower my stress levels!
