that get SNAP (aka food stamp) benefits would have been better served if the program would’ve bought some grocery items for distribution to SNAP recipients since the shelves are empty at the grocery store.

There is no way you can stock up with SNAP, from my experience. You are lucky to make it through the month without fasting, (which I often do) if that's your only source of food.

No toilet paper, almost no tissues. Low on water. No baked beans, low on ketchup and mustard. Ok on fresh food and most other canned and boxed and bagged foods. No rubbing alcohol, no wipes.

The cashier said they’ve had 7,000 customers today, a substantial as l multiple over a typical Friday.

In short, people are cray cray.

but the people are smarter. Think they should feed him a can of Vienna sausages.

So where's the first lady? I can picture if it was Michelle, like handing free food out somewhere.

But not in our area. It was sheer craziness. Not stripped bare craziness but still bizarre.

I shop at that store, most of the time. It's usually dead until around 10 am, picks up a bit until the lunch run from 12-1, settles down, and then becomes a madhouse at around 4. Stays that way until 9:30, then slowly starts tapering off until closing at 1 am.

Today? People were lined up to get in the store at 6 am, and it was a madhouse the entire time he was there, until 3:45 when he left. I can't imagine what it's like right now (nearly 7 pm).

He didn't say anything about the meat department, but he sent me pictures of his shelves: Bottled water, TP, paper towels, beans (canned AND dried), rice, hand sanitizer, soap, canned vegetables, tuna, spaghetti sauce--GONE. Like a bomb had gone off, is how he described it. Said he'd never seen anything like it, even during some of the hurricane or flash flood episodes. I told him this is what panic looks like. People are terrified because a scary virus is out of control in our midst, they know that we can't trust the government to protect us thanks to the lying, incompetent traitor pig, and that means we're all on our own.

His company is now in disaster mode, and opened up the overtime. So I won't get to see him much until things calm down... If they do anytime soon.

So glad now that I did my errands earlier this week: Got my disaster shopping done, stocked up on meds AND got my kitty squared away with vax and checkup, too. Now I can hunker down while the rest of the world loses its mind.
