my 92 yo mom is at risk in so. CA, and one of my nieces is a nurse in the same state, one sister is self isolating as she's sure she was exposed at work and the other sister's husband passed Thursday. My BIL's passing made me think about how he had family around him but my mom might be alone if it hit her,,, she wouldn't last long with it and she was tested Friday as she has a respiratory issue.

Funeral homes handle bodies that were killed by contagious disease as a matter of course.

I suspect what WOULD happen is they would immediately cremate bodies that died of COVID-19 and stop allowing funerals on the premises. They could also go to survivors' homes or set up "satellite offices" in hotels to make arrangements.
