The only items on the table were salt and pepper. The server brought out whatever you needed.

They are disinfecting everything they can kust as soon as the table is emptied. Everything is sanitized after each use. Door handles and other often touched surfaces are wiped down often.

2. I got a package from UPS

yesterday which had to be signed for. The driver wrote my name on the device, said they aren't supposed to hand them out. I first thought they worried about damage or theft, then realized it was to avoid germs

The levels of cleanliness has certainly declined in my lifetime. As an example, Panera likes to tout their healthy menus but when I've been in some of them, I can't help but notice the food on the floor, the dirty looking back of the restaurant where you wait to pick up your order, and mostly very young kids who haven't been taught good sanitation practices by the managers.

I can remember, if my dad walked into a restaurant where the same person who was serving food was also taking the money, he would turn on his heel and walk out.

You don't see that in fast food places anymore (of course, its been eons since I was in one), but you still see it in the mom and pop establishments.
