Seriously, just one day this upcoming.week. They just closed all Washington businesses, which they should, but a friend who has a local brewpub was just about to celebrate their tenth anniversary. Now who knows what the future holds. Another friend just lost his dad. He had to cancel a trip to Japan, now he can't even take the modest driving trip he was going to take instead. Someone at a Seattle law firm left work Tuesday with flu-like symptoms.ans was found dead at.home Thursday. A restaurant in a building near me.in Seattle abruptly closed its doors after 32 years. My 84-yeae old mom lives in a different state and I worry about her - plans to get together first for her birthday, then Easter, are now on hold. We live next to a senior living facility and I haven't seen the residents out on their walks for days. My college roommate is experiencing serious setbacks after cancer surgery in Illinois and I am worried because she's at risk. My 401(k) is vanishing. My boyfriend's company does mammograms at clinics and I worry that he will get exposed or that they will need to suspend operations.
And when I get up tomorrow and put on the TV, it will say BREAKING NEWS all fricking day.

(27,827 posts)It's impossible not to be online, and I feel I need to check on updates before I set out.
Social distancing is not the issue. My bus that normally has about 75 people had 10. We all sat far apart. I have my own office that still smells of Clorox wipes from when I wiped it down when I left, but I wiped down all the handles, chair, etc, in case cleaning crew had been here. Got eggs to go in the cafeteria but stood six feet away from everyone.
My office itself seems so safe I almost don't want to venture out and go home, but once the extra monitor I ordered arrives tomorrow I'll be almost exclusively at home. However, I need to stay connected since I still have deadlines to handle.
