This is how bad it's gotten for me

I went to pick up a prescription from Walgreen's this morning, and since I was there I got a couple of sundries I needed.
The woman who works in the cosmetics department saw me grabbing some cotton cosmetic pads and came over to me to suggest something else. She stood right in front of me and as I backed away she moved with me. I ended the conversation but have been rattled ever since. Doesn't Walgreen's train their employees about social distancing? Holy shit!

How many times do they disinfect the counter where people pay? There has been a high volume of customers who at least understand the issue and stood at least three feet away from each other as we stood in line.

I'm having a procedure on Tuesday and this afternoon my doctor called me to tell me that it was still on and the I should isolate until then. Now I feel that I destined to get Covid-19 and may carry it to the surgery center. I'm one of those at risk. I'm "elderly" (hate that word!) and already have ground glass nodules in my lungs most likely from a bad case of walking pneumonia 30 years ago.

Someone talk me down!

1. I haven't been to a Walgreen's in literally years.

Last time I was there they had ONE pharmacist and 3 helpers.

Took 2 and half hours to fill my prescription.

I saw 2 of the helpers and the pharmacist having a conversation.

4. It was the best drug plan

at the time I enrolled, but all the other pharmacies in my town have closed in the past two years. Believe me, next year I will choose another drug plan even if it's a bit more expensive and go to CVS. Almost all of the small drug stores in my area are out of business.

5. Fortunately there is a small pharmacy about a half block from where I live.

They even still have free delivery.

2. I've seriously been having anxiety attacks since last week.

And I've never had or experienced that before in my entire life.

6. Today

I had a phone session with my therapist because of, ya know. The first thing she asked me was how I was feeling and when I let her know "very anxious" she asked where I felt it physically. We didn't go very deep into therapy, but by the end of the session I was breathing regularly and not shaking - actually calm. This was before the Walgreen's incident.

I understand why this virus is spreading so exponentially.

8. I can relate, Initech.

I went on Sunday to stock up for self-isolation and couldn't believe how panicked I felt. I was wearing vinyl gloves and avoiding people like crazy. When I got home after having gone to Walmart and two grocery stores, I unloaded everything on my porch and wiped everything off with disinfecting wipes before bringing it into the house. I had the feeling I was behaving like a germophobe. That was all during the time that a couple in my neighborhood thought for sure they had COVID-19 and had to move heaven and earth to get tested. After four days, the tests finally came back negative, so am breathing a little easier now.....

13. After my flight from Vegas on Saturday...

I went from staying in a very nice and clean Hilton property (one of the nicest hotels I've ever been in, BTW) to staying in what might be the worst hotel experience I've ever had in my entire life. I felt like I was staying in the real life equivalent of the Sleep Eazy motel from the Simpsons. I think it was there that I really had the reality of everything that is going on sink in when I was staying there. Thankfully I'm in a much nicer place and I will get to go home tomorrow. Then I feel like I'll be able to conquer the next 14 days. But still, this entire week has had me on edge.

12. We are in the same boat

I had double pneumonia last April that nearly took me out. I have not fully recovered either. Still doing breathing treatments and but have been off O2 for 6 months now. I doubt that I live through this especially if the hospitals will be as strained as being predicted.
That is not going to stop me from swinging, living and helping who I can.
My Dad always told me that I wasn’t created to serve myself.
You do all that you can, I am pulling for you.

9. Assume you're ok

Do as your doc says. If you get a fever before surgery, call your doc. Let it go by offering it up to a higher power. Take care of yourself and best of luck with the surgery.

16. The commitment and verbiage seems to be in Walgreen's press release...

but whether or not they can put it into practice in every store and with every employee is another story.

I suggest you call and speak with the store manager and tell them about your experience. Unfortunately, far too many Americans have heard the right things to do but simply are not yet taking it serious enough so that the proper behavior is instinctive.

17. Since she was near you for such a short time, you are gonna be fine. Every other person doesn't

have it yet. I get it with surfaces, but info has been contradictory. Ebola virus also lives on surfaces and yet our one patient here who touched many surfaces in the ER before they knew he
had the virus did not infect anyone that way. Not saying, be reckless, but chances are great your visit did not infect you. In any case, you sanitized right after your visit.

Be sure to get enough vite D as long as not contradindicated for you,

Soon there will be medicine.

I hate that GD word “elderly” except when I need it as a sympathy ploy.

18. This may or may not help, but I truly believe we have predetermined expiration dates.

For me, it's a freeing thought because I don't have to worry as much.

It's not a blank check to act recklessly, but it's a way to let go of trying to control things that you can't control.

19. If she didn't cough or sneeze on you you most likely got nothing from her. You have

been very careful so I would expect you to be safe. Remember all the idiots stuck like sardines in bars and such.

I remember people getting too close to me in the last week or so and I don't like it. But try to be realistic.

Also, I started wearing a mask when I am out. I don't give a shit. I have already ended up in the hospital 3 times from getting sick and then developing asthma. Anyone who doesn't like it can kiss my ass!

20. I get my prescriptions from CVS and they deliver. I'm sure Walgreens must have some kind

of delivery option as well. It would save you a trip and you can order products w/ your prescription as well.

It's very convenient - they come right to the mailbox in my building. For some reason I always hated to go in to pick up prescriptions because there was always a line, but these days it's even more convenient for obvious reasons.
