Planned it for a yr. Every detail.
Way out of our league, so I bought $$ "cancel for any reason" insurance.
Guess what-no insurance covers pandemics. We lost thousands.
i know its a 1st world problem.But I am bummed.

Not a trivial problem. So many dreams and plans are being destroyed at a rapid rate. Walleye Mar 2020 #1

It was a package deal where they specifically told me that cancellation within 14 days would cost me something like $300.

I forgot about it until today... now less than 14 days away... and I called to see what I could do.

They canceled it for me and said no problem, no fee, and would I like a $25 gift card for my trouble.

HAL's Amsterdam, out of Florida on a 4-month voyage, suspends the trip halfway through, leaving passengers off in Australia to find their own way home.

If that weren't bad enough, the fares for this trip ranged from $22,500 - $45,000 per person, and most passengers are in their 70's, 80's and 90's.

My trip to Vancouver is happening but not until later this year. My trip to Maui is getting completely canceled. That one I'm very bummed out about.

4 days. I checked last night, and my reservations are all there; the places are still open. I hate to let it go, but I may have to.

I'd be hiking by myself, and the trails would be clear.

Governor Gavin Newsom says hiking and fresh air are OK. But, there would be exposures along the way, the inns and restaurants I'd planned to occupy. I guess I'll have to cancel it. What a shame!

a month. Three weeks in Bali and a week in Singapore. I’d rather be in Singapore at this point. They have a great health care system and are testing like crazy.

I read that most travel insurance doesn't cover pandemics, but that if you paid extra for "any reason" that would be honored. You might want to press your insurer on this.

Either way, I'm sorry your plans were dashed this way

are at the age when lots of their friends are getting married. Their refrigerator is full of wedding announcements. I feel so bad for all those brides who were planning spring and summer weddings.
