No responsible adult can be anything but angry and disgusted about the self-centered CHILDREN spending spring break partying at the beaches. But, it is not especially remarkable that these CHILDREN are self-centered twits who are convinced that they are invincible. We all had that attitude at their age. Besides, these CHILDREN have an excuse for their "I'm the only one who really counts" attitude. They are simply modeling the putrid example of the Orange Oaf.
They have heard all the stupidity gushing from the White House and their bullshit alarms haven't had time to fully develop. Most of ours have been blaring at constant full volume for over three years.
So, yeah, the spring breakers piss me off, but they are forgivable. Trump?
NEVER!

(6,797 posts)parents normally foot the bill. So cancel the credit card until spring break is over if they won't listen about staying home.

(14,004 posts)But the young are acting as they always have. Its not due to Trump who most young people hate. Its that young people think theyre invincible, always have. The answer is to close beaches, bars, etc. to limit where they can gather.

If my child insisted on going to one of these precmordial cesspools on a FLorida beach, one, they'd have low funds, and two, they couldnt come to my home for at least 14 days.
My fear is that in the next couple of weeks as these kids go home with COVID-19 (and no telling what other social diseases from bumping uglies), there will be clusters of infections directly related to these kids bring the virus homefrom Florida.

My gut feeling is that some famous people are going to start getting really ill and dying. That will ratchet up the "shit-is-real" seriousness the same way Tom Hanks and Rudy Gobert brought about the first real leap in attitude adjustment.
I think that will result in a few weeks of serious adherence that will really bend the curve. But as soon as people think we are past the worst of it, I think patience will be in a hurry to "get back to normal". This will result in a second wave rivaling the first.
I try not to be pessimistic but I just don't think we are culturally prepared for what will be needed over the long term.

(5,528 posts)But I just have to remind myself about the party we threw at college during our first hurricane warning. Looking back, my living quarters were so vulnerable that it could have gotten us killed if the storm had actually struck.
Live and learn and try not to get anyone killed along the way.
Now get off my lawn!
