"There is no such thing as society."

I read a tweet from the UK earlier today that reads:

"There is no such thing as society," they said as they ripped up our health service, labour protections and welfare supports.

Now we all desperately want society back.


I always though that (the "no such thing as society" quote) was one of the more inane (but dangerous!) things Thatcher said. There are still people clinging to the hollow logic of Friedman/Thatcher/Reagan (neoliberalism); maybe the pandemic will dislodge a few of them.
