Bryan Williams is doing a segment on how

the city shutdowns are affecting cities that exist because of one industry. Las Vegas is closed. It’s a city that over a million people visit every month. Today it’s a ghost town with thousands of people suddenly out of work and no job prospects in anything else.

He’s also doing part of it on the professional sports being shut down. Sports are not just entertainment is the gist. It’s a whole community way of life. In both cases the money part of it isn’t even mentioned.

NASCAR being shut down is another community sports event. Real cars won’t be driving around. Real spectators won’t be there. A tradition is stopped.

All of these shut downs will have psychological effects on the people involved. The massive loss of jobs alone are hurtling millions of Americans into a sudden abyss of unknown consequences.

perspective on Nevada. Probably 120k casino workers state wide. Teachers State wide 40k plus. Local Transit Drivers several thousand. Retail in the tens of thousands. Local Restaurants and Honky Tonks, thousands.

We have not heard the numbers as to the Airlines and Airport workers.

This one is going to really raise hell with our States Economy, fortunately our State has a decent rainy day fund, which btw,the GOP wanted to give to the Casino operators as a Business Tax refund last year. We dodged one there.

Northern NM is another big time tourist destination. We are in self isolation mode. The restaurants and grocery stores and all the businesses are shutting down as places where groups of people congregate. They’re open door take out and delivery though.

It’s going to be a terrible Summer for tourist destinations.

I’m a transplant from California. I came here after I retired because California is just too expensive, but I love it here! I’ve been here 2 years. I just need someone to go with. Right now none of my friends can visit me since they’re all out of state.

But I’m determined to take that train ride before I die!

Our Schedule was to include several theme related Train Trips because it is the fiftieth anniversary of the Cumbres Toltec Non Profit being organized to preserve one of the Original Narrow Gauge Railroads in the USA.

Also interesting point about the GOP’s desire to hand off the rainy day fund to casino operators. They do like giveaways to certain groups.

Sands Corporation spends millions to get Rethugs elected. Adelson spend big bucks trying to defeat a same Business Tax in order to fund Teachers Pay increases.

because we do not wish to support him. We are not huge casino goers but it was fun for an hour or two several times a year. He’s not missing my meager bets at the penny machine nor my spending at a restaurant there. But I feel better than I’m not supporting him in any way.

South Korea is on the same continent with China. Their proximity no doubt lent itself to the interest both in their population and leadership.

Had Wuhan's epidemic taken place in Canada, maybe our population would have put more pressure on their leaders who in turn could have heightened vigilance in DC. Granted, the biggest hurdle was always going to be the idiot in the Oval Office.

people, there’s a sense of comradely and family fighting something together. It’s not on a level of importance with the loss of life but it provides another layer to life’s experiences and enjoyment.

Throughout the day I’ve seen many tributes to Larry Edgewood, the NBC news team member who died from the coronavirus. I thought Brian’s was the best worded. Plus he had the photos of him with Larry and staff members on news locations. It was a touching ending to the show.

And I'm not gonna cry about the Masters/golf. Both are toxic and wasteful in the extreme. I only wish it were a permanent bye-bye.

No doubt, here lies danger. People will be startled and shaken. We must work towards something soothing/healing/productive for all who have been disrupted. But there's no reason to try to restore everything to it's prior broken state, just because it has now been broken further.

That is the tricky part. People will want a return to the most recent not-terrifying state. Which was hot garbage for 90% of Americans. We've got to formulate a goal which is much better and much closer to being in our grasp than our now-lost garbage-status.

I can see parallels to the a Great Depression and Roosevelt’s New Deal. Millions of companies are going to fold, million of people will have no job to return to. And those businesses that do make it will find they have no customers to buy their goods. It’s the domino effect.

I get the feeling when we eventually get through this that it's going to shift the United States that hasn't been seen for many generations. I can't but help but think this is going to serve as a huge reset from how we've been accustomed to how things are. I just think things are going to be noticeably different. We shall see.

Not having things like concerts and sporting events, weddings, conventions, parties, even the mere notion of going to a restaurant for dinner, not having that to look forward to just fucking sucks. Hell, even my favorite morning radio show and a restaurant that I normally frequent are victims of this thing.

I've been saying that this virus has triggered my anxiety like I've never seen before. I've never needed anti-depressants and for the first time in my life I'm taking them. And I'm sure that I am not the only one who feels this way.
