(34,661 posts)Hmmm,we were poor working dumbies so we only received C stamps.
Similarities as to what is happening in real time today. Hospitality Industry gets a Trillion,320 plus working Dumbies get a Buck.
1945 example,Uncles Father In law was a County Commissioner,Uncle got A stamps,Uncles Brothers and Sisters got C stamps.

(34,661 posts)40's,this caused tons of family friction. Uncle tried his best to play down that advantage. But,Auntie would use it as a lever from time to time. And if you were a Farmer, which Uncle was,you also had special perks. Or if you worked for the Railroad again there were perks.
So,as of a few minutes ago,we are about to see the greatest wealth transfer in the History of our Country. MGM Corp to get tens of Billions(Carl Ichan as well as the Founders Trusts),My neighbor who is a Dealer gets may be a Buck. Donald Trump gets Billions for he and his Partner Phil Rifkin, his workers get nothing because this is a right to work for less state.

Just in case.

(50 posts)Born in 1940; but I remember some stuff. The Martins, who lived in the flat in front of our cottage worked at the Port of Milwaukee. They walked to work every day. The old man was Port Director, the son, a stevedore. Both were size 3XL; our whole family were Lilliputians by comparison. Both exempt from the draft because in those days Milwaukee actually made essential things that were put on ships and used in the war effort. Each month my Mom and I would take the extra ration cards (and as I recall ration tokens) to the Martins. Those guys needed the extra calories she told me years later. I still have Mrs. Martins floral milk pitcher she gave to a little boy proudly sitting on my counter as a token of the Martin familys appreciation.
