where he forgot Romney's name and started to praise Obama I am really starting to wonder. I've seen him have flubs in the past. I remember a few flubs during the 08 campaign and was getting worried about some sort of Reagan thing only Sarah wheeling power.
Or I am I wasting people's time?
(edit sorry I typed 04 when I should have typed 08)

(10,457 posts)No, you're not wasting people's time. I think he was starting to have Alzheimer's when he was running in 2008, and it's getting worse.

(46,182 posts)Not because he was racist, but because I think he honestly forgot Obama's name.

(7,968 posts)Reagan showed signs of Alzheimer's. McCain not so much. As an older American I can say we all make flubs as we grow older. It doesn't mean Alzheimer's.
I sometimes catch myself trying to remember something that should be obvious to me. Like a student's name who graduated only a couple of years ago or something. There is brain research which says it is normal aging and not the big A. Yeah the big A. is a concern but not because of minor flubs like John's.

(7,968 posts)McCain is kinda famous for these flubs I think. Imagine if McCain/Palin had won in '08 - man we'd really all be very worried about the possibility of A.

(59,504 posts)name. I think McCain has always had some tendency to misspeak. This was a simple one - he likely said President and Obama simply followed because President Obama sounds right.
I was more concerned in 2008 and 2009 when he seemed to get irrationally angry beyond what circumstances warranted.

(82,383 posts)McCain winning - imagine how much more Palin there would be to put up with, in the news.
And that would be the least of our problems.

(877 posts)A lie takes energy and thought to produce.
A tired McCain could just be telling the truth as he really sees it, politics aside.
See! No Alzheimers! Just too tired to bullshit us!

That's different from how President Reagan was acting during his second term. It's still too early to talk about it publicly, but I think it will be settled in the future that Reagan had Altzheimer's during his second term. It was blatant. A press person would ask him a question, and he'd just look at the guy and not say anything...one time Nancy interjected and answered the question for Reagan. During Iran Contra, those times said he didn't recall...turns out he probably really didn't recall.

(37,648 posts)To him, it was just another blah-blah-blah speech. Romney doesn't mean anything special to him. He was just making a boring endorsement talk for political purposes. I do slipups, you do, we all do.

I'm beginning that he's doing this on purpose. He absolutely LOATHES Romney!
