House Democrats took the fight to the Republicans on Friday when they rushed to the floor of the House to demand that the GOP get back to work and cut short a recess that will last till the end of January.
As James Clyburn demanded to know where the Republicans were at, the House Leadership cut the C-SPAN feed and shut off the microphones. This marks the second time that House Republicans have censored the Democrats in an effort to keep the American people from seeing what is happening on the House floor. As C-SPAN has noted, the House Speaker controls the cameras and microphones.

(37,540 posts)There will be more points for the Democrats to gain by showing this video than by letting them make their case in speeches on the floor. Oh well, I guess when the Democrats retake the House, the Republicans won't mind similar treatment as they've set the precedent for this behavior.
OTOH, I really don't know why either Party gets to control the medium like this. It ought to be independently controlled and not the personal tool of either Party.

And have them go live with coverage of the opening of the sessions, and the Dems trying to get something done during said sessions ...
but then, the "liberally-biased media" only covers "political theater" when it's done by Republicans ... or when Republicans declare some legitimate actions by Dems as "political theater" ...
