U.S. Chamber of Commerce endorses Deb Fischer (R-NE for US Senate)

Surprised?

LINCOLN — With a forklift beeping in the background, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce on Monday endorsed Republican Deb Fischer in her race for U.S. Senate.

The announcement came in the warehouse of Nature’s Variety, a gourmet pet food company in northeast Lincoln owned by Bob Milligan, a member of the U.S. Chamber’s board of directors and former chairman of that board. The event followed a similar event earlier Monday in Omaha.

Milligan and others said that Fischer’s pro-business, less-regulation record as a state senator in Nebraska helped persuade a national chamber committee to endorse her.

Her Democratic opponent, Bob Kerrey, former a U.S. senator and Nebraska governor, rated 42 percent in Congress for his support of business, which is too low to warrant an endorsement, said Doug Loon, a U.S. chamber representative.

For example, EXXON can rule Texas. Their 26 million employees will be called Texxons.
