Facebook Targets Liberal Websites and Fan Pages, Allows Blatant Racism

People have often speculated about whether or not Facebook has a political bias, and now we may have indisputable proof that they do.

Wednesday evening I was enjoying watching the President Bill Clinton’s DNC speech in my hotel room. I was on vacation for the week, and I had just had a great meal with my brother and his family, whom I hadn’t seen in 4 years, and I sat down on my laptop to check my Facebook, which I hadn’t been using the 3 days prior. I was chatting with the editors of this site, when an alert popped up. “Please log in to continue.”

I’ve seen this alert before. It’s usually accompanied by an e-mail which says that one of Facebook’s terms of service has been violated. These warning are generally very vague, and Facebook doesn’t offer any way to challenge the warning. I went to the login screen, and this was the notification I received.

They seem to be children. When they are caught, they run to mommy, point and complain. They started the fight, the threw the first punch, but when you fight back, they run to the authority and complain.

Facebook has sucked since it went from needing a university email address to allowing everyone on it.

This should become a national and international issue.

Given the reputation of Facebook over their IPO this year, I look forward to when the Zuckerberg guy is down to his last 100 million.

at least in regards to their interests is the issue of boycotting or targeting companies they may want to entice into selling adspace.

Being the medium used to coordinate and organize thousands of people with millions of views to go against companies who you are trying to get to give you money to put ads on your medium works against you. As a company that is or might be targeted I'd be funding the thing used to target me. Insert some CEO/shareholder screaming about their freedom/capitalism and being forced to 'play nice' with their company's money and endorse/back liberal/progressive agendas or face blowback.

It would also work against them for conservatives to do the same but I think we've all seen that nearly all the conservative boycotts are overshadowed by the progressive/liberal ones. Their agenda be it some variant on God or just hate is much less popular than the issues taken by people who are almost always unfairly targeted/punished through a conservative agenda/position. I'm sure a part of that is that conservatives are less inclined to be as engaged on social networking sites as well as that viewpoint being one that isn't shared by the majority of the world.

There could also simply be the issue of those with the money to back FB demanding FB crack down on liberal/progressive speech on FB pages. I see this as a more conspiracy type issue, not totally impossible but one that has to have the right people say/demand the right things to the right people in/at FB with many others going along or keeping their mouths shut. As it would be very obvious to only target liberal/progressive speech. Even automating a good chunk of it there would be several people who'd see the code/appeals and have to go along.

It's dated.

A waste of time.

Also, damn ugly to look at.
