"Obama and Romney take down negative ads"

I wish they were down permanently and only solutions were discussed. I really get fed up with all of the bullshit negativity that clouds all of the issues.

The AP reports that both presidential candidates are setting aside their attack ads for the 11th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Obama has scheduled a moment of silence at the White House and a trip to the Pentagon, the target of one of four planes al-Qaida hijacked 11 years ago. Romney, meanwhile, is set to address the National Guard, whose members deployed as part of the U.S. response to the attacks.

“Eleven years ago, evil descended upon our country, taking thousands of lives in an unspeakable attack against innocents,” Romney said in a statement. “On this most somber day, those who would attack us should know that we are united, one nation under God, in our determination to stop them and to stand tall for peace and freedom at home and across the world.”

In his weekly address, President Obama called the anniversary “a chance to honor the courage of the first responders who risked their lives – on that day, and every day since” and ”an opportunity to give thanks for our men and women in uniform who have served and sacrificed, sometimes far from home, to keep our country safe.”

but I hate it when the military dead get lumped into the memories of September 11th.

To me this day is all about the civilian dead and the first responders who, without hesitation, ran into a building to save anyone they could. I mentioned this in another thread just a couple of minutes ago, but these are the people that monuments should be built for - not for the Soldiers like me. Memorials and monuments to war, I believe, give the impression that war can be a glorious cause. There is no glory in combat, but the people who died on September 11th, 2001 are people who we should idolize and be building monuments for.

I know it sounds callous toward our war dead and military service members, but as a disabled veteran I feel I can say this. Veterans and the war dead have their own days to be remembered. Leave today for us to remember the civilians and first responders who died with nothing but the purest intentions of selfless service.

2. Romney's negative ads are full of lies. Obama's negative ads are full of facts.

I am sick of Romney's lying. I am not sick of Obama pointing out Romney's lies and delineating the negative impact of Romney's policies.

At any rate, glad there aren't any ads today. But not liking the False Equivalency in the article that Romney and Obama ads are the same.

lies and distortions off the mass public media. Yep, I have no idea how that would be done, and not used in bad ways.

9. A terrorist attack from more than a decade ago is what it takes for them to pull negative ads?

Not respect for the electorate, respect for the political process, or even respect for themselves? God, this country is fucked.
