The rest of the poll makes sense, but the number for African-Americans seems high.

(26,900 posts)538 has it rated A- with a slight Dem bias. Surprisingly, they use a pretty solid polling organization.

(2,093 posts)Fox News poll, generally. They skew Republican (Rasmussen), whereas, oddly enough, Fox News polling skews SLIGHTLY Democratic. Interesting to see.

(14,232 posts)There are a lot of conservative hispanics in Florida, for one thing. I'm sure there are other kinds of GOP non-white voters.
But, yeah, maybe just a total misunderstanding of "liberal????"

(58,785 posts)AND some conservatives who register Democrat to protect against the Republicans. AA voters notably maximize their power by uniting -- within the Democratic Party -- and their bloc especially includes a fair number of conservatives. Black conservatives who vote strongly vote Democrat, though sometimes some may sit out votes like for our first woman president or first black woman governor of Georgia.
Btw, there is no personality type called "moderate." You're either moderate liberal or moderate conservative and either lean or strongly align left or right accordingly. So that one's suspicious; Probably people were invited to self identify and don't know any better; besides, calling yourself moderate's in style with many turned off by toxic partisanship. But they're either one or the other.
Although Sanders and other anti-Democrats insist our party has a bunch of people who are at least as conservative as liberal, some kind of hybrid Dem-Repub, that's just plain party character assassination. We're the liberal party, most members liberal, with fewer conservatives, who tend to be moderate cons overall.
Speaking of the Sanders lie, if we gathered in one place those few who are really so without political ideology and goals that they'd nod and shrug at both Trump's spite fence and wealth transfer to plutocrats and the Democrats' commitment to immigrant rights and progressive economic justice, it'd look something like Times Square does these days. And understandably, many of those odd-bits end up not bothering to vote. Probably only registered back in the pst because their girlfriend did.

(58,785 posts)the biggest one comes from letting people self identify as liberal or conservative when most people today really cannot identify what liberal is and is not. Newt and his sort did a really good job of defining us as something no one would want to be. Only recently are more than a handful of bravehearts starting to identify liberal because of that and because of the discrimination and hostility it often generates.
That said, there is no hard line at all between someone who has a full basket of liberal traits and some farther left who also have some liberal traits but also some not so similar at all. We know some of those voted for Sanders and then for Trump against liberals. And it's likely that some of those resentful white men who'd had too much equality and went to Trump nevertheless consider themselves liberals. And there is such a thing as bigoted liberals, just very weak and small in percentage compared to the right.
Btw, the strongest most defining difference between liberals and conservatives is in attitude toward equality. If Thomas Jefferson's mission statement for our nation speaks for you, you're gonna be liberal.

(25,183 posts)Fox News has aped the Orange Anus by running a bunch of "Bernie is getting cheated" stories. It wouldn't surprise me if some Sanders voters would stay on the line if they knew they were doing a poll for Fox News.
