(154,021 posts)The first photo, is a member of the Belgian team I believe. Like Katrina, we got lots of help from first response specialists from around the world. The difference, wanna bet he don't have to fight to get healthcare?
And the dogs are incredible.

(5,528 posts)I am a member of one of those search teams and was at the WTC.
I actually think that last picture might have been one of our dogs.
They are amazing.
The handlers also deserve a huge shoutout because it takes tremendous dedication to train and keep a search dog at full certification.
Although it is not their primary function, the dogs also play a huge role in public outreach for the USAR teams. They are such gentle and well trained animals that people can really relate to them.
