Describing his experience driving on a highway a few hundred yards from the Pentagon on 9/11 after it was attacked, Romney almost sounded like an experienced war veteran recounting his brush with combat (at about 1:20): "I could smell burning fuel, and concrete, and steel. It was a smell of war." It sounded like he'd smelled war before. Like George Bush's hilarious statements about knowing what combat was like, is Mitt trying to give himself a war record?
Or has he just been watching too many movies?

(36,974 posts)due to the fact that there were bodies burning in the Pentagon building.
I heard Romney say what he did on TV live and the first thing I thought of was the 'people' in the burning building.
Mitt has no sense of decency at all.

(13,776 posts)... please don't ever stop talking.
In all seriousness, I cannot BELIEVE he said that. What a slap in the face to anyone who's actually been in a war.

(4,569 posts)He was supposed to be in New York, but he instead was in DC, in an office that apparently had a small TV on the desk for him to watch. Then he got in a car and drove (yeah, right) past the Pentagon and traffic was stopped and he smelled the carnage?? What bullshit is this?? Where was he going?? By then you couldn't fly anywhere unless you were related to Bin Laden.
This is more lying crap from Mr. Shit Onmey
