"What goes on in Chicago doesn’t stay in Chicago: Teachers Strike Against Obama Education Policies"

We're dealing with 'em ( said policies) in NYC. (We have a much more ... let's say... "compliant" union leadership, than does Chicago; at least for *now*) Or perhaps I should say "failing to deal w. 'em."

Heck... we're dealing w. 'em everywhere.

>>>Naturally, the anti-teacher, anti-union public and press have ignored the abuse of children by the people running the Chicago schools. Obama, Duncan and Emanuel all sent their kids to the top-notch schools where 43 in a class would be considered child abuse.

Obama is between a rock and a hard place. He can’t support the teachers, not only because the Republicans will jump on him but because the teachers are striking against his own education policies. On the other hand he can’t condemn them for the strike and turn off many teachers around the nation who not only vote but are activists in elections.>>>>

This is pretty much how it looks to a lot of us, anyway. I'm in NYC.

that our "leaders" have utterly failed-falls on the shoulders of people who start out making maybe 28K a year. Like blaming the doorman for the WTC collapse.

an educational program. But not one Educator had anything to do with the development of that program which is why it is such a total failure from an educational pov. But then that was not the objective, the objective is being achieved, to Corporatize the Public System. I am so glad this is finally happening and I hope NCY is next.

... which is to say: RttT (Obama) had a far more deleterious effect on my ability to teach than did did NCLB alone.
