1. The virus cells die off in 48 hours without a human host body.

2. The virus can not jump more than 6 feet away.

And the virus can enter your body only through eyes, nose, mouth, anus, penis or vagina.
Do not touch any of those before washing hands with soap. You are 99% safe from infection.

We were doing a lot of this, but not all. It seems like good advice.

All the frozen and refrigerated stuff goes straight to the sink, where it gets sprayed with disinfectant, rinsed, dried, and put away. The sink gets washed down, and everything else gradually comes in and the process is repeated. Except for the stuff in cardboard. That stays out in the garage until needed, when it gets wiped down.

I do the same thing with mail picked up from community mail box station. I leave it in garage for 2 days.
No need to wash it.

If I can't wash it in soapy water, wipe it down with disinfectant, or put it in time out for a few days, it doesn't come in the house. Other than the occasional walk/bike alone, I have stayed home for three weeks solid. I know the only way this virus will get me is through groceries or the mail, and I will not let it happen. Grocery/mail entry to the house is strictly regimented to avoid contaminating anything.

My family (not under the same roof, thank goodness) thinks I am going overboard, but I don't care. Nobody knows who will succumb to this and who will recover and walk away, and I see no reason not to spend a little extra time and care now to avoid tragedy later.

By staying home and staying well, I lessen the risk for everyone. By staying home and staying well, I free up scarce medical resources for someone else less fortunate. By staying home and staying well, I will live long enough to see that heinous bastard run out of the White House on a rail next year.

1. place all non-refrigerated items in garage for 24+ hours before bringing them in house. That kills any virus cells sitting on outside.
If no garage, leave those items in car trunk.
2. In the kitchen sink prepare a solution of water plus a spoonful of dish washing fluid.
Then clean outside surfaces of all items with a wash cloth drenched in the soapy solution.
Wipe dry with paper towel.
