Trump yesterday

I'd like to verify something that I think Trump said yesterday (I think it was yesterday, maybe the day before, days are all running together). I was busy putting casing on some windows and decided to take a 5 minute break in front of the TV.

A reporter asked Trump a question...something about what will happen to all of the people that are losing their health insurance because they lost their jobs? Will they be able to sign up for the affordable care act? Or something like that.

Trump responded by saying that they were doing something MUCH BETTER by directly paying the hospitals for all costs related to COVID-19 treatment, so the patient will not have to pay anything.

Did I hear this correctly, or did I dream it? How is it MUCH BETTER if you have a heart attack, or get cancer, or sustain an injury?

MUCH BETTER than the ACA fuckface? Please tell me I heard that wrong. Thank you.

2. Providers won't balance bill the uninsured ONLY IF COVID-19 related:

The Trump administration will use money earmarked for hospitals in the $2.2 trillion coronavirus rescue package to cover COVID-19 treatment for uninsured patients, President Donald Trump said during an April 3 White House briefing.

The coronavirus task force will use some of the $100 billion in funding hospitals will receive in the rescue package to ensure uninsured Americans don't face large bills if they need COVID-19 treatment, White House officials said.

During the press briefing, HHS Secretary Alex Azar said under the measure, providers can't balance bill uninsured Americans for the cost of care. Providers will be reimbursed at Medicare rates and receive the funds through the same mechanism they have for testing, Mr. Azar said. He added that more specifics about how the rest of the $100 billion will be used are forthcoming.

3. He did say that, and there is some evidence that's under serious consideration.

Apparently, they can use some of the funding already approved. Further, the major insurers are going to cover Coronavirus illnesses 100%.

Anyone losing a job qualifies for ACA. Some of the states that didn’t expand Medicaid are being offered funding to pick up some of these people.

I don’t give trump any credit and much more is needed, but there are things going on that will help millions hurt by this that we have not seen before.

5. They can enroll if unemployed.

They do not have to wait for open enrollment for ACA if unemployed. I know, because I did it a couple years ago when I lost my job. No way could I afford COBRA. However there is an income requirement if I remember correctly.

I will not go to that link, my guess is that it is the junk insurance tRump is selling instead of Obamacare insurance. So apparently this is their response to that question, open up a way for people to buy junk insurance
