My older brother lives in Calabasas, a city in the Los Angeles County, CA. He is a true die-hard Republican in my family, the hardest one. He called me this morning to ask me to do a favor for him. All of sudden, he blurted out, Trump is a JERK! Trump only cares for himself and his wealth. Whatever policy that he enacts seems to benefit him. Trump is a child inside a man. He is so incapable to be the president. He is a conman. Cant believe that I voted for him in 2016! So many people have died, and all he cares about is to make himself look good in front of TV. I did not like Pelosi and Schumer before, but now, I can see that they really care for people. I truly appreciate the good things that theyve tried to do for our country. I like them now. I am no longer a Republican. I will vote for whoever the Democratic presidential candidate is. Just want to kick Trump out of the White House in November. In addition, how could Trump stupidly appoint his eunuch-like son-in-law to lead the most crucial and important task force under the current dire and dangerous situation of our country! The person that I currently admire the most right now is the governor from New York, Andrew Cuomo. I will definitely vote for him if he is the candidate. He truly deserves to be the President of the USA!
Wow! Could not believe my ears! Perhaps the latest tracker poll is correct. Trumps support is beginning to crack because his supporters start seeing the real petty, selfish, self-centered, bullyish, and incapable person in him.

I still think at least some of these polls have been inflated to prop him up. The real numbers are dropping and are going to get harder and harder to hide.

They're also perhaps worried about alienating neighbors, because chest beating about being a supporter isn't a good look right now.

ALL of them. Every last one.
Shame enough to wake up, and wise up - NOT to make the same voting mistake again.
I'm sorry, but THIS, NOW, is on every one of them who allowed themselves to get taken. Nobody put a gun to any of their heads and told them to vote for him or else. They went willingly. They volunteered.

(65,066 posts)H1N1 swine flu had the first case in April 2009. First death, same month.
The last cases were August 2010, with last confirmed death in mid-July.
So, 12,500 deaths in 15 months. We're closing in on 10,000 deaths in 10 weeks, & only 9 since first death.
In a couple weeks, we won't hear those folks talking swine flu again. Hard to explain how 12,500 is more than 50,000.

(233 posts)My brother has a PhD degree in Biology. He did work in the White House under Clinton Administration. He worked under Dr. Anthony Fauci back in the 90s; although Dr. Fauci did not personally know him. My brother was just one of the biologists invited to work with Dr. Fauci. He said Dr. Fauci was a much cooler person back then. My brother added that he doesnt like Dr. Deborah Birx. Some of the things that she said were not accurate, perhaps being pressured from Trump. He also mentioned his distaste about the way she dresses so flamboyantly at the daily briefing as if the daily briefing is for entertainment and showmanship. Her daily colorful and gaudy outfits do not reflect the serious and deadly situation that our country is in.
Im just happy that there is another Democrat-convert and a former Trump supporter who genuinely and angrily wants to kick Trump out of the White House comes November.

(81,305 posts)Very flashy dresser. She's clearly semi-obsessed with accessorizing, particularly with colorful or dramatic, sweeping scarves. It is a wee bit off-putting. Makes one wonder if she spends as much time reading her medical journals as she must spend with Vogue magazine.

(12,480 posts)But I wear it because of a promise to myself from second grade.
I was kinda advanced in my class so when the assignment was done I would flip through the textbook.
In the history book I saw a native american in a roach.
I thought his "hair" was the most amazing hair ever and promised myself my hair would look that beautiful someday.
I cut my hawk when I was 21 on my birthday never looked back still wearing it , I cut and dye it myself.
I wear some gothic,punk, glam metal,rave clothes.
If I was Birx, I would wear black and dye my hair to match. And I would wear it down in a ponytail. For the sick and dead, with the support ribbon for healthcare nurses ,docs and first responders on my lapel.
I might be a freak( in the positive sense) but I can have class in my own way. Birx might be tacky and tone deaf, and since trump put her there, I find that more wrong than the the clothes .

(81,305 posts)This is a somber time when we should be all-business. And I'm NOT talking "commerce" business. I mean PROFESSIONAL. It's not about how you look or how stylish you can appear when on camera. Or maybe who you're dressing FOR. (?)
I'd dress more somber and not as attention-grabbing in those occasions. You're NOT trying to attract attention to yourself. Everybody's already paying attention to you because of your job title and your expertise. You're already on center stage on TV in a White House coronavirus briefing that most of the world is watching, forcryingoutloud. Let that be your show. Besides, the Showboat-in-Chief is gonna be right there, making sure you can't compete with him, no matter what you do. Even if you waltzed out there naked. (Of course - um - that would be a whole 'nother story.)

(21,157 posts)One less vote for mf45.
I know Calabasas really rich area. My cousin used to live there and whenever I visited thought it was a snotty rich area, he also was a Reagan repuke.
That said my husband works for a major airline carrier and a lot of mechanics are still drinking the koolaid. husband pointed out that it was the Democrats that put in that airline workers still get paid but they said no it was mf45. I think once one of them experiences the cv themselves or with a family member they will still be drinking the poison.

(3,056 posts)The high point of any day is an "Aha!" moment in one of our kids. That blinding flash behind their eyes when they "get it". My husband had it in 1996 when he watched the Republican Convention and told me he "didn't want to be associated with these people anymore". Your brother just had his. Great, aren't they?

(2,957 posts)I have a cousin from Texas. Hardcore conservative. Thought Obama was a joke. Wondered aloud why anyone would have gone to Obama's inauguration. He'd always been this way since he was born. We figured must be something in the water in Texas.
Then Trump entered the scene. Right after Trump got the nomination, my cousin went hard for Hillary. Thought (and still thinks) Trump's a laughingstock, incompetent and dangerous.
He sent money to Hillary's campaign and voted for her. And announces he did so - LOUDLY. In conversations with him, it became evident that he actually voted FOR Hillary and not against Trump. It was seriously not a protest vote. He preferred her policies overall.
Then, on the other hand, the brother of a very close friend of mine used to be a fierce, anti-establishment, anti-conservative liberal firebrand from high school through college and well into his 40's. Since Trump became POTUS, he's been surprisingly neutral on Trump. Unwilling to criticize him, always giving Trump a pass and how Trump still needs to be given a chance (after 3 years!) and pointing out how the Dems never complained when Obama and Clinton did the same thing that Trump is doing. (This, even though Obama never did anything that Trump is doing, and those areas of some overlap - like certain issues involving deportation and child separations that occurred under Obama - are differentiated in context, scope, rationale and humanity.)
Then there's those infuriating people to were staunch Obama supporters and then went hard for Trump citing Hillary as an imperfect candidate.

(5,401 posts)with the help of his overseas friends, and that he promised to enrich people's lives while putting the 'others' back in their place.
Three years of mismanagement, and Trump voting people are starting to see something the rest of us saw from the beginning, Trump can't manage the country or the economy. Or an emergency like a weather disaster, or a pandemic.
Death looming can make you see things more clearly. And his daily news briefings just reinforces his total incompetency.
His 'I have this magic snake oil here, see? It's going to cure everybody!' moment was probably the lowest point in his career as pretend POTUS.
(But he may outdo himself tomorrow.)
