https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/11356594/himalayas-visible-india-coronavirus-pollution/THE HIMALAYAS are now visible from India as the coronavirus pandemic led to a massive drop in pollution.
Residents have said the air has cleared amid the governments 21-day lockdown to fight the outbreak, allowing them to see the towering peaks 125 miles away from Punjab for the first time in 30 years.
Locals from the Jalandhar district in Punjab have taken to social media to show off incredible pictures of the snow-capped Himalayas.
The mountain-range is the worlds highest with elevations of up to 24,000ft and includes the worlds tallest peak, Mount Everest.
India has a population of around 1.3billion people have last year had the worlds most polluted cities, according to pollution monitors at IQAir.
The 21-day lockdown during the coronavirus pandemic has however seen cars taken off the roads and businesses out of operation.
And the decline in air pollution has coincided with the reappearance of the Himalayas.
Residents have claimed it is the first time they have seen the peaks, and thanked the improving air quality for the incredible view.
India's Central Pollution Board said the nationwide lockdown has resulted in significant improvement in air quality in the country.

Remember Trump just rolled back the Obama-era vehicle mileage standards but what the hell, pollution is good for us!

...the virus subsided and demand clean air all the time.
On a side note, the same thing is happening in Venice, Italy where, because of no tourists, no power boats, no cruise ships - there is clear water in the canals. And fish!
