The IRS plan would distribute paper checks to the lowest-income Americans first, prioritizing payments for individual taxpayers with incomes of $10,000 or less on April 24.

Checks for earners of $20,000 or less would be in the mail May 1

Those with incomes of $30,000 on May 8,

$40,000 on May 15,

and continuing in income increments of $10,000 each week, according to the plan. The IRS plans to issue about 5 million checks each week.

26. It is free money, not a loan

The procedure is weird making some misunderstand. Everyone gets a tax credit on their 2020 income tax return. The one due April 15 2021. Created out of thin air, free money. The check or direct deposit we get now, $1200 etc., is an advance against that 2020 tax refund. So next year people who deserved the stimulus check but somehow missed getting it will get the $1200 on next years tax return. But those who get the check this year will not get a refund next year.

It is free money. No need to pay anything next year.
