(102,282 posts)I would gather Drudge is both a realist and scared shitless to be going after Trump or at least reporting the facts from critical sources.

(10,829 posts)I think the good doctor has been very measured in his words attempting to placate Trump while getting the necessary information out to the public. Not like this statement is outrageous, merely rational and realistic. But for Trump and his defenders this will be perceived as criticism, a betrayal. I've read that Trump has been looking for a reason to rid himself of Fauci; the man doesn't adequately tow the line. For the past week I've been reading about Republicans questioning Fauci's usefulness--Is he doing more harm than good? Yada, Yada.
This might be the tipping point. I predict they'll rue the day they dump Dr. Fauci because right now the man is considered the only one who knows anything at all. If Trump opens the country to business as usual too soon, we're likely to see another spike in infection and death.
And that will be ruinous.

(9,019 posts)several questions in a row about, "wouldn't we be better off now if we'd acted sooner?" and Fauci replies, well, that, but it's not the only factor.
Trump is so fucked up he'll probably quit bringing him to the daily "presser"
