the unemployment numbers are pretty meaningless because they are temporary first and foremost. People will return to work.

There is work to return to. Some business will be slow to reopen, others will not be able to reopen at all. I worry about my local BBQ joint. The people are my friends, the food is great and the beer selection is varied and always interesting.

Would you schedule a cruise or go to a movie, or even eat at a packed restaurant? It is going to be a very slow recovery and many small businesses are going to go bankrupt.

and Trump shows no signs of understanding this basic point yet, the country is going to languish in this Trumpian hell. Nothing, or no one, can get through to this cement-head.

Will there be another big spike?

I would say recovery would be quick when the economy reopens, but we’ll just keep getting wave after wave of outbreaks until either everyone has had the virus and a herd immunity is developed or a cure is made and distributed to everyone in the nation. Many people will be hesitant of public spaces until that happens and economic recovery will be slow.
