He's claimed, "I'm a 'wartime president,'"

yet he's gone out of his way to ensure we CANNOT (perhaps ever?) know where the 'enemy' is hiding in otherwise-plain sight because he has -- from the very start --- deliberately prevented the government from testing and contact tracing anyone who might be infected so that asymptomatic individuals could be physically isolated away from their families and anyone else.

To wit: why did his government deliberately de-fund, dismantle, and dismiss the pandemic response teams in the NSC and throughout the government in 2018? The *job* of those folks was to have begun an all-of-government response as soon as NSC received credible Intel (possibly November 2019, in this case, but surely December) that a novel infectious agent had been reported somewhere in the world. With that bureaucracy in place, we might have had a functioning testing apparatus and operation in effect well before even South Korea.

But no! "The Kenyan" was responsible (in his eyes) for setting up those teams, so they had to be shut down.

Granted, I didn't join the military until my 50s (no prior service) and then only had four OCONUS deployments (each time, without a weapon), but even *I* know that deliberately ensuring we cannot know where the enemy is, and where the enemy is massing to strike next, is hardly a winnable 'wartime' strategy.

In short, though, here goes:

In the '70s: majored in music & biology; went to Spain for foreign study; became professionally religious; got clean/sober in '79.

In the '80s: M.A. (philosophy); M.S. (immunology); taught college biology 3 years; M.Div. (Divinity)

In the 90s: Th.M. (Theology); Ph.D. (molecular neurobiology [on one coast]); postdoc (molecular virology [w/researcher from other coast]); taught university biology 3 years in heartland

In the '00s: another postdoc (neuroscience, again); director of honors program & undergraduate research in biology (my PhD institution); 30-day, silent, spiritual retreat (a requirement of my being professionally religious); Army Direct Commission; officer 'basic training' at age 51; turned 53 during combat deployment without a weapon; 2nd deployment w/o weapon back-to-back with 1st

In the '10s: turned 54 during 2nd deployment; 55, 56, 57 while on orders here in the States; turned 58 during 3rd OCONUS deployment w/o a weapon; 59 still wearing a uniform Stateside, and 60 during y 4th OCONUS deployment w/o a weapon; left the military in 2018; started working in a hospital in 2019; celebrated 40 years clean/sober

In the '20s: still working in a hospital

My apologies for prattling on and on! (I told you it'd be dull. After all, acquiring more degrees than a rectal thermometer took the better part of most of the first two-thirds of my life!)

Please stay safe. This virus is incredibly infectious and deadly even to younger people.

Of letters you can put after your name

Also an interesting combination of degrees, although IMO there is no conflict between belief in the divine and living a life guided by science. That which created us also gave us science to guide our understanding of this phase of our lives; it is wise, and faithful, to accept what science tells us is true.

My faith tells me all will be well in the end. Science, and much training in NBC warfare tells me to treat the virus with respect and be aware of infection vectors.

Be well and thank you

is a clear sign that not only were they desperate and broken, they had to scrape the bottom of the barrel to come up with *me*!

I served from 2006 - 2018.

If he wins, then he loses His one remaining talking point. Be can't claim is performance polls are up, his employment stats are in the tank, the economy is in free fall, but he's 'working' really hard to fight the corona virus.

He's been playing that line for months and everyone seems to have fallen for his lies, again. Sure, a gazillion tests are won the way to everyone in the country and of course we have the best tests results ever seen in the history of the universe. The lies never stop.

In *all* ways - striking at the heart of the country's institutions, operating principles, degrading the community discourse into the gutter, attacking anybody who has accomplishments and integrity to their credit, and on and on.

So, he *IS* a wartime president.
