The thrust of the GOP plan for the USPS is to bankrupt it. It started in 2006, and the following post explains some of it.

Bezos and he is using the Post Office as his foil. Post office is Amazon's secondary parcel delivery. Oh btw,Bezos owns the Washington Post.

for years, likely someone has whispered a new talking point into his ear, knowing he’ll make a BFD about it again - hoping to gain more traction by enlisting trumpers to the idea.

Likely the repuke pandemic preparedness plan from years ago - to ensure voter suppression! 🤬

that trump insiders are saying he will veto any additional stimulus money if it contains any funds for the Post Office. Not a single trump veto has yet been overridden by both houses of Congress.

with trying to interfere with absentee ballots or other mail-in voting?

Clearly, trying to privatize USPS and having a bug up his ass about Bezos--who he continues to insist gets a "sweetheart deal" in mailing costs for Amazon purchases, as well as his hatred for WP--are the main reasons.

You could say that the government as per the Constitution has a mandate to bail them out. Good luck with that argument.
