(8,835 posts)to do this daily, ESPECIALLY the women journalists. We all know how well he takes criticism from women, don't we??????
If he gets hammered from them daily, maybe he will give up the daily press conferences just like his first three years except on occasion.........
They don't have any truths what-so-ever, They only give him tons of time for self aggrandizement, They only serve as an hour long, completely free opportunity to campaign for himself....
Am I missing anything......
Why in the world do the TV networks even give him the time???????
Whoa, wait, I forgot.......80%+ of the U.S. Media is owned by pro corporate Republicons.....
I suspect that CBS, NBC, ABC are all in that 80+%

I know that I would need to be plastered to be able to sit still and watch him for more than 45 seconds, make that 35 seconds.

(20,219 posts)Someone has to address the behavior.
Come back with a statement calling out the insult. Calling out the deflection. Trying to spew facts wont do a thing to him and his ilk.

(24,300 posts)these shit shows. And the press needs to stop going to them. Of course, Fox and OAN will continue, but it will look like nothing but an ass-kissing session and they will go down with Trump on election day.

(43,407 posts)to elect as POTUS. He has an almost singular toolkit of shitbaggery to bring out the worst in a large enough segment of Americans to get elected and have a shot at being re-elected.
A racist psychopath, a megalomaniac with sub zero self-reflection, an infinite capacity to lie and gaslight, world class self-promotion and media manipulation abilities, and he has been deeply embedded in the American pop culture zeitgeist for 4 decades. He never backs down, he only doubles down.
Trump has set the nation back decades, and if re-elected, perhaps will cause it to break up within the next 20 years.

CNN's Kaitlin Collins to Trump: "You said when someone is President of the United States, their authority is total. That is not true." She follows up: "Who told you the president has the total authority?" Trump responds: "Enough."

(6,188 posts)That reminds me of when I was a kid in the 1960s.
The goto refrain. "YOUR MOTHER WEAR COMBAT BOOTS"
"You are a terrible reporter" and.... that all the stable genius has he cannot think on his feet and always behave like a bully.
A dumb one a that!

(2,739 posts)He needed to be pressed and they did that. But I was surprised at the tone of voice of the reporters. More emotionality than I expected, and it seemed to me that much of the time Paula Reid sounded opinionated, negatively opinionated about Trump's position.
I know they're human and under a lot of pressure. I just think that the more dispassionate they can sound, it makes it easier to make their case. Not that I could do it at all. One reason I could never do that job.
I tried to imagine Yamiche Alcindor's tone of voice slipping into that kind of passion and couldn't.
I wanted to see their complete professionalism versus his ranting and raging. That contrast would have been very effective. I personally don't think they got there.

(164 posts)summer,
I do agree. Getting into a spat with him is still playing his game. Quietly repeated questions, focussed exactly on point, is the only way.
I have seen him on the back foot only once, when he was being questioned on 'Trump university' and he started to lose it.
This was on a point of fact about how many students had received refunds of course fees. It is amazing that interviewers haven't found his weakness and gone for it at every opportunity.
Trump is a slippery fish.

I freely acknowledge I cant keep my cool in pursuing answers when its a matter of truth and justice or the opposite.
But hopefully it woke some people up. It certainly was warranted.
The propaganda machine is likely to pounce of course.

(935 posts)Nothing but bs comes outta that bunghole mouth of his anyway. No good info that could actually help us, in fact, he does way more harm than good. He wants all the reporters to praise him and gets so visibly irritated when they have the gall to ask a good question. And I can't stand it when he points at the journalist who is asking the question in such a menacing way. It's meant to intimidate and overpower. Yes indeed ALL HAIL PAULA REID!!!!!!

(5,810 posts)lose his sh*t. And yet that is exactly what is needed at a time like this. It was needed long ago when he was still candidate tRump. But he is such a bully, over bearing in his demeanor, menacing the reporter with his facial expression and gestures that he usually wins the round. Most reporters just meekly back down.
I am waiting for the day when more than one reporter arrives with a steel spine and blood in their eye. Maybe they make a pact ahead of time to have a real strategy to push him until he breaks or backs down. It would be difficult but if they vowed to stick together, I think they could bring on the Mother of all Meltdowns. Ordinarily I cant stomach more than a minute or two of his pressers but for that Id pay for a front row seat to witness every golden moment. I want to see that MFer sobbing and bawling, blubbering like a two year old having a tantrum.

I am at a loss. I am trying desperately just to keep my 84 year old Mom alive, safe and well.
I am beginning to lean towards the LIHOP theory of things. This lack of competency is by design.

He is a world record level dumb jerk, a would be bully, a thoroughly disgusting excuse for a human.
And there is something missing in the brains of the people who still support him.
