(4,557 posts)all we can expect is more near-term volatility. Which way in the longer term is anyone's guess and is essentially unpredictable.
A lot depends on how much/little progress is made against the Corona virus and that in itself is pretty much unpredictable.

(6,110 posts)my only point is DOW was up substantially during last 6 weeks, and no one should be surprised if we are followed by some down days.
So you are absolutely right....volatility has been through the roof and it will continue for several more weeks.

(6,110 posts)so I do not expect a serious decline this week or next. This is corporate earnings reporting period,
but that is for quarter ending March 31st. The 2nd quarter earnings are going to be shockingly lower.
So some great buying opportunities may show up late summer, early fall. I am keeping some cash set aside for that.
