Thomas Modly was reportedly angry at an aircraft-carrier crew's emotional send-off of the captain

Former acting Navy Secretary Thomas Modly was angered by the videos of sailors aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt cheering for their recently fired commander, according to a New York Times report published Sunday.

Modly, who on April 2 fired the aircraft carrier's commander, Capt. Brett Crozier, was angry after several videos showed crew members gathering to send off Crozier with applause and cheers, Navy officials told The Times. The videos were shared widely and have garnered support for Crozier, who was removed after his letter pleading with Navy leaders for help with a coronavirus outbreak on the ship was leaked to the press.

Modly then took a jet to fly to Guam to address the ship's crew — a trip that reportedly cost over $243,000. In a 15-minute profanity-laced speech delivered through the ship's announcement system, Modly defended his decision to fire Crozier and expressed continued support for the crew. Audio of the speech was eventually leaked to news organizations.

"That's your duty. Not to complain. Everyone's scared about this thing," Modly said. "But I'll tell you something: If this ship was in combat and there were hypersonic missiles coming at it, you'd be pretty f---ing scared too. But you do your jobs. And that's what I expect you to do."

Sounds like Modly has a Trumpian ego.

I haven't heard that phrase in so long. My dad never said a four letter word in his life. But anytime us kids complained, he said he'd punch our T.S. card.

He was a World War II veteran. And a medic in the war. When I grew up, I understood that no matter what we complained about, it was nothing compared to what he lived through.

Thanks for bringing back a good memory of my Dad.
And you didn't even know you were doing it.

You are most welcome.

Glad that it was a good memory.

We use that T.S. exactly when we miss my dad the most. If he only knew how much and how often "MF" has entered my vocabulary the last 4 years!!!!!

I moved in with my parents and took care of them in the last years of their life. And I now live in what was their home.

I never swore in front of them, because I'm sure my mouth would have been forcibly removed from my face. One did not use those kinds of words in my parents home.

But now? I am forever looking towards the skies and saying 'sorry'. And to be using this language while sitting in Dad's chair? and
