Trump Sues Wisconsin TV Station For Airing Super PAC Ad Attacking His Coronavirus Response

Donald Trump’s campaign sued a Rhinelander, WI, TV station on Monday after it continued to air an ad from a pro-Joe Biden super PAC that attacks the president’s response to the coronavirus crisis.

The spot features a graph mapping coronavirus cases in the U.S. over the past two months, with audio of comments Trump has made downplaying the threat of the virus.

Trump’s campaign filed the lawsuit on Monday in the state of Wisconsin circuit court against WJFW-TV, an NBC affiliate, claiming that the ad “takes audio clips of candidate Trump and pieces them together to manufacture a false statement that was not made by the president: ‘The coronavirus, this is their new hoax.'”

The lawsuit was filed after the campaign fired off cease and desist letters to stations across the country threatening them with legal action if they continue airing the ad. Trump’s campaign also has warned not just of lawsuits but that they could “put your station’s license in jeopardy.”

Has there ever been a lawsuit filed over a campaign ad before?

using trumps own words to show what kind of a jerk trump really is.

I don't know if this is the first lawsuit filed over a campaign ad, but with trump it probably won't be the last!

Why not just be patient and wait for the mandatory, state-run news service to premiere?

I guess the Trump Regime(tm) is just getting antsy about the whole thing.

He threatens people with legal action to scare them into not doing something he doesn't want them to do, or into doing something he wants them to do. For example, he did that in fall 2016 to stop women from coming forward with sexual misconduct allegations against him. He said that after the election, he was going to sue every single one of those women. And as I recall, not many of them did come forward, after the spate of allegations following the Hollywood Access video.

He dares people to take him to court if they don't like something he does. So when contractors and caterers and others who did jobs for him at his hotels or restaurants or casinos or whatever complained when he didn't pay them for that work, he said he'd already paid them enough and just told them that if they didn't like it, they could take it to court. How many people could get into a legal battle with a rich guy like him? So he just got away with this whenever he did it. If I were a contractor or caterer or whatever and did some work for him or one of his businesses, I would have to be paid up front for the entire job before I would do any of the work at all.

He keeps disputes tied up in the courts interminably by just appealing to the next higher court when he loses a court battle. That's what's been happening in the battle over his tax returns, in the battles over subpoenas for witness testimony. Every time he loses one of these battles, he just appeals to the next court. And then, that delays the issue for another eight months, another year, another 15 months.

And now, for the past three and a half years, he has been the one who gets to APPOINT those judges who decide those cases. He's got an army of lawyers to litigate all these cases for him, and now he gets to appoint the JUDGES too! This is just outrageous. This is the sort of thing that happens when you get a con man into high office.

Please, please, PLEASE, let's vote that con man out of office in November.
