Trump Said, "Authority is Total" .The Republican Party Historically disagrees. This is the opening!

....Moderates can say, "We do not agree" and stand up against that comment because it is not true. History of the Republicans is just the opposite. The President does..not have "total authority" as everyone knows. It is shared power

Trump has opened the door to opposition in his party. This statement is a complete lie, and believers in shared power will stand up against this. It is a clear and obvious comment that goes against the Constitution.

Yes, there will be a discussion of the Constitution and the president's power, but Trump will not win. The door is clearly open to opposition from a whole lot of people. Every historian and supporter of the Constitution will stand against Trump. We will see, but this could be a turning point in this discussion. Only time will tell.....
....and of course, ..next November's election will decide it all.

If we win the Presidency, we need to do what we can to weaken it for a long time. We need to throw the ring into the volcano, it's too powerful for anyone to have now.

What'll happen is Democrats will weaken themselves, the Republicans will STILL run roughshod over them, then whenever they get back the Office, they'll take back those powers they once had and the Democrats won't do much about it.

So, yes, what's good for the goose, if good for the gander.

is broken. We owe it to democracy to fix it when we have a chance. Just because Republicans are awful doesn't mean we should be too.

I don't want to deal with another time when there is an obviously criminal President who can do whatever he wants with impunity because he is literally above the law. 67% in the Senate is an impossibly high bar.

Reinstall truly independent counsels who don't answer to the President or anyone the President can fire. Increase protections for whistleblowers.

They'll go along with whatever their Cult Leader tells them. I'm sure they'll justify it somehow.

3. ...I am not so sure, perhaps but some leaders on the "other side" will see this as totally wrong.

Time will tell, but keep in mind this is April, and the election is in November. Lots of time for lots of events. No one knows what will happen in the future. I sure don't.

Frankly, I was waiting for “saner minds” in the Repugs to take a stand throughout the first year or more of 45’s term. I figured, as things got crazier and crazier, that we’d see the 25A invoked. After all, it wouldn’t have been like they couldn’t be assured of a reliably-conservative replacement president, except with a degree of mental stability.

But, as time went on, I realized it was an illusion. Every time the Repug congressional leaders set aside their misgivings and rallied behind 45, the more “pot-committed” they became. By now, resisting him on anything would be virtually unimaginable, as it would mean rationalizing their failures to do so before, over and over. They’re all-in, and there’s practically nothing that can change that.

Since he's never read it, & wouldn't understand it if he did, he thinks that's what Article II actually says!
