Cannot copy text, but basically the illustrious asshole Gov. Lee said he wants state open by early May, in accordance with shitstain's desires.
He declined to say whether schools would be closed beyond the current 4/24 date.
Of course, health experts are cautioning against reopening too quickly.
He just doesn't get it - the virus determines when people can resume activities, not shitstain.

(26,109 posts)It's just beginning to blossom in rural areas. TN has about 21 counties without a hospital, iirc.

(26,746 posts)They predict a mid-May peak if the state significantly tightens their current mitigation efforts... a mid-June peak if they keep things locked down as they currently are... and 15,000 hospitalizations within 30 days if things are lifted (when there have only been about 600 so far).

As Tennessee continues to grapple with the coronavirus, Gov. Bill Lee extended his stay-at-home order on Monday, mandating non-essential businesses remain closed until April 30. The governor's decision aligns Tennessee with President Donald Trump's latest calls for businesses to reopen in early May. The move to extend the state's stay-at-home mandate, which was set to expire Tuesday, comes just days after Vanderbilt University projected if Tennessee abandoned its current approach, there would be a resurgence of coronavirus cases.
As of Monday, state officials said Tennessee had 5,610 reported cases of COVID-19 and 109 deaths. On Monday, Lee declined to say whether he would ask schools throughout Tennessee to remain closed through the end of the month. Last month, he asked school systems to shutter until April 24. Lee said he would give an update on reopening schools on Wednesday.
The extension of Lees stay-at-home order comes at a time when Tennessee appears to be gaining ground on the coronavirus outbreak. Since the start of April, the daily growth of positive cases has fallen to and remained at its lowest point since the virus first came to Tennessee. A flood of patients is no longer expected to overwhelm hospitals. Medical professionals and health experts say this progress is promising but fragile and that if Tennessee abandons social distancing too early, the outbreak will surge again.
Noting the latest figures show a 10th straight day of single digit percentage growth, Department of Health Commissioner Lisa Piercey said, Our curve is flattening. While issuing his latest order, the governor suggested he would like Tennessee to begin reopening businesses next month. "Its clear that our economy cannot stay shut down for months on end," Lee said. "We need Tennesseans to go back to work."

(57,073 posts)He should be in "quarantine" - solitary confinement somewhere so that people's lives are not endangered due his & dump's greed.
He will announce Wed. whether he will order schools to open which I am sure he will because they serve as daycares for working parents. 🤬

(44,130 posts)state if reopened to early. I would. I'm thinking NM or Az. Hopefully those states won't take up your suggestion to close borders to those in red states with idiot governors.
