"SNIP......

Rep. Justin Amash (I-MI) said that he’s considering a White House run against President Trump, a move that could pose a challenge to the president’s campaign for a second term, the Washington Post reports.

“Amash, who left the Republican Party last year and is seeking reelection to his Grand Rapids-area House seat as an independent, made the comment in a tweet responding to a statement by Trump on Monday night that as president, his ‘authority is total.'”

...which might be crucial, but I doubt you’d see him draw many votes among Republicans elsewhere in the country.

someone other than trump. Of course, they would have to realize that they'd be giving the election to Biden.

don't really know much about Amash, other than that he left the party over Trump, voted for impeachment, and has continued to criticize him. Unfortunately, there are some on our side who immediately begin to exclaim "X for president!" any time anyone says or does something they like. I fear Amash might draw Never Trump votes as well as those on our side who just think of him as an "exciting" anti-Trump.

Some R's just will not be able to vote for a D, and also do not want to vote for the Tangerine Turd. Nonetheless, that is still a net gain of +1 for the Dems.

We'd have Cliven Bundy & Co in the streets, or holed up in a national reserve, waiting to gun down law enforcement officers, because a black man had essentially declared himself king.

Wouldn't the only Rs willing to vote for Amash actually just be the Never Trumpers? I feel like a lot of these types are much more likely to vote for Biden than they were Clinton (who they had spent decades hating). It might actually cost Biden votes instead of Trump.

I'd rather Amash just work to help Biden rather than run his own campaign.

Meaning as a small government candidate. Trump has exploded the deficit and the debt. If he runs as a Tea Party like candidate, he could hurt Trump.

He quit the Repub party because they're too liberal.

Let him run. He'll be the Jill Stein of the right.
