Friday was my birthday and both my husband and I are in the "high risk" group due to age, so we are hunkered down at home. One of our daughters ordered dinner delivered to us from a local restaurant. Our son had a small cake delivered. Then another one of our daughters organized a zoom birthday party, and had the florist deliver a beautiful orchid plant. We were able to visit with the daughter and her family in Texas, as well as the kids and their families here in town. It was so special! It is such a blessing to have adult children that turned out to be kind, compassionate people who are productive members of society.

(11,468 posts)I am proud of how my daughters have turned out to. My younger daughter (38) called both her grammas in their 90s when this first started and begged them to stay home. In the beginning my mom thought it was just a flu.
Then my mom was getting depressed and lonely in her senior home, basically stuck in her apt and instead of dining room they bring to her place now. So my daughters asked my mom and me to do yoga with them thru zoom on Sundays. My mom just watches us do it but we talk before and after.
Normally my older daughter and I would have taken my mom out to brunch on Easter so we all talked instead and I gave her link to Bocelli concert which she loved. I live out of state from all of them.
Thank god for the internet!

(54,387 posts)Yesterday, we had a Zoom family reunion, set up by my brother-in-law. We were dialed in from Palo Alto, CA, Bloomingdale, NJ, Midtown Manhattan, Langley, VA, Königstein, Germany and here near Düsseldorf. Cool stuff spanning nine time zones!
